Test Drive Report

Well, my better half had a class all morning in Lafayette, so we made a day of it. I brought some work, completed it, and had 3 hours to kill. So you know what that means:

MUSIC STORE TRIP!

I test drove an

Ibanez Artcore AS103

into a

Mesa Lonestar Special

:wow: :32:

I've been GASing for a semi-hollow body, and I've been lurking in ebay watching the Washburn HB series. I've played the HB-30 and -32, and I've heard great reports on the -35.

I'd say this Ibi would hand right in there with the HBs. See-thru blond finish (gorgeous), Ibi pups. This thing was SCHWEET! $975 tag on her, though. The salesman said, "Lemme see what I can do."

He returned and said, "$659. Including the case."

:32:

The only reason I tried the Lonestar was because I asked for an EL84 amp to play through (to get SOME idea of what the axe would be like with Franklin).

I didn't tweak the knobs much, but I'd have to say that the Lonestar is the BEST sounding Mesa amp I've ever played. All others seemed kinda one-dimensional. Not this baby. She purred like a kitten, growled like a lion, and hummed like a jaguar.

I really enjoyed both the axe AND the amp.

If only I didn't have to go home and face the wifey....;)

(Yes, this COULD have gone in the guitar room, but it DOES have amp content;) )

Re: Test Drive Report

I love lone stars and stilletos great dynamic amps, but a little pricey for my blood (well until I get my degree then we shall see)

:chairfall

That might work except for the Parker Fly Deluxe in the closet...

Believe it or not, though, I might be thinking (once again) of selling LesStrat to a good home.

So will you be changing your name to LesIbi or to LesWash?

Hope you get one or the other...335 style guitars are the are great.

Re: Test Drive Report

Nah, I've been here too long for a personality change.

Besides, I've been using a Parker as a main axe for years (Nitefly, then a Fly Deluxe).
