Testing the Tascam

I bought one of the little digital 8 track recorders last year and finally gave it a go. I'm pretty surprised how well it recorded without any real tweaking. I just plugged a mic into each of the two inputs, pointed one towards the bass cabs and one towards the guitar amp.
Now, the actual playing isnt perfect by any means and we weren't trying to be. We're just beer drinking neverweres. Just wanted to test the unit.
The first one is sung by the angry bassist.

Re: Testing the Tascam

Those little silver Tascams were always easier to operate than the Roland VSR-880s that I have, gathering dust in storage.

Re: Testing the Tascam

That sounds pretty damn good considering the fact that all you did was plug in a couple of mics and aim them in general directions.

I've not listened to them all yet, but my first impression is that you have a very large garage.
Just a small room in the basement but I like reverb on the PA to make the vocals a little more tolerable :)

Thats what I thought.

I rather enjoyed listening to these last night. The Tascam has done its job well.
Thanks man.

Listening again. The guitar tone is very Randy-esque. What was the setup for that?

Also, please get Soundcloud. Soundclick sounds horrible.

Sounds like real rock n roll! Raw, live, and in your face!!!!

Thats what thought too.

It was a simple rig. Just my 55 watt, 1×12 Rivera. The driven stuff was the British channel boosted with my MI blues pro. The cleaner stuff was the American channel with a little chorus or delay from my h2o. The mics were about 3 to 4 ft from the amps.
I'll check out Soundcloud but why does it sound better? I do know the wav files that it originally recorded in sound much better than the mp3.
