Texas Specials, Pearly Gates incompatibility on Strats?

I have a Strat with 1 volume, 2 tones, a 5-way switch, Pearly Gates SH-PG1 (recent purchase from SD) at the bridge and 2 Texas Specials as the middle and neck pickups. All SD wiring diagrams are for 3 single coil pickups. Sounds like the double pickup humbucker at bridge won't work. Position 2 of the 5-way switch (bridge and middle PUs) sounds bad, out of phase, big level drop. Can I wire my way out of this?

I'm sure you've seen plenty of pictures of guitars with 1 humbucker and two singles, so I can't imagine why you think this combo can't ever work. For your situation its just simply a matter of reversing the soldered positions of the green and black wires of the humbucker.

Fender polarity is always out of phase with everyone else, even their own humbuckers.

I have heard you say this and it seems to make sense on a humbucker because unless you wire it Lonestar the middle and humbucker just need to be in phase is all. I don't think it would work on three singles though. You would lose the humbucking effect between middle and bridge singles.

I believe that all you need to do is wire up the humbucker backwards. Be sure that you keep the bare wire connected to ground, though. You will need to unwrap it a bit in order to do this.
