Agreed; the decent ones are usually overpriced or if they're priced decently they get snagged up. I got lucky on the Pawnshop Tele; the Strat I picked up from CL and it was a good find as well. I found I got more money parting out Warmoths more so than selling them as a whole cause you just don't get the investment back if you bought "new".

It's not easy finding pawnshop guitars you'd actually want to own and use like that one.

Used parts casters are always a case of their loss/your gain.

Never tried the SA or had them in anything; did have Fender Lace Sensors and they were very nice, especially with the TBX Tone and Active Boost like the Clapton has...could pretty much go from Single Coil-ish to Humbucker at the twirl of a knob.

IIRC, the SA set is actually for Strat, it's the set they use for the David Gilmour preloaded pickguard. I had a strat with the EMG-SA set and really liked them. I eventually traded it in for a nice acoustic, and while I don't regret the trade, I've always kind of wanted another strat with the SA set. I've also always kind of wanted a tele with the EMG-T set.

Thank you! Actually like the EMGs in both guitars. I've been completely shocked by it. In the past if a guitar came w/the standard 85/81 one set I'd rip 'em out, put 'em on eBay and find something passive, but I've actually been quite satisfied with both sets - Versatile and Not Sterile sounding...who knew???

Dude you are so right. What I meant was the Tele alnico model; for Strat it's the SA (as in alnico). For Tele it's the EMG-T for alnico and EMG-TC for the ceramic model. I really I liked the T set; I never tried the ceramic variant.

The DG set does have SA pickups with the EXG and SPC.

2014 has been a good year so far; I'm really happy with my guitar assemblies/acquisitions - all four of them are pretty damn killer players!!!

The funny thing is that I was really "Pro DiMarzio" and "Anti-EMG" forever and now...well...Duncans and EMGs!!!
