Thanks Aceman..

You got me thinking. I don't riff anymore and I haven't in a few years. I haven't been serious about playing for quite a while mostly because of health issues but also serious lack of motivation.
I tried to get serious the other day and... Guess what, I got no chops anymore..lol.
So there will be no riff-off with Ace for a while. Haha

I got serious about playing in 98. From 98-06 I practiced a minimum of 3 hours a day. 2006-2010, I practiced a minimum of 4 hours a day.
Since then it's been a half hour or hour here or there.

So I've made a resolution to practice at least 2 hours a day and do at least 100 scales a day.

Playing, even poorly, is better than not playing.

Re: Thanks Aceman..

My reputation apparently travels fast...and again, I don;'t really think I'm 10% of what I sound like I think I am. If that makes sense.

I never said I could out riff him. I do have better hair...of course, I had a lot to pick from!

Re: Thanks Aceman..

My reputation, well, never mind about that..
Hair, what's left of it, is all my own. And after just sitting down for 20 minutes of nonsense with my V, I'll say that I would take part in a riff off. It's been too long since the last exhibition.

I'm liking where this is going.

There is no possibility that I could win, but I'd play. Because, why not?

Given that there is no objective standard and therefore no possibility of an impartial judgement, the concept of winning takes on a different light. In this case, participation is half the battle.
And yes, as a kid, I never got first place (well, once, but I'm not talking about it) but I always got the good sportsman's award. Because even when I knew I couldn't win, I still finished the competition.

Haha... Y'all know I bowed out when I made the thread. Give me at least 6 months to get something back.

Hell, I didn't even know there were 100 scales. I only know a major scale and a pentatonic scale.....lol
