having my epi sounding better than my fusion!!!

and i'm about || this close to yanking out the JB and puting it into the charvel to see if it's REALLY just the pup and not something else.

the charvel is MUCH more resonant (not to mention heavier) than tha SG (which till now i dont REALLY know what wood it's made of .. i dont really know it for the fusion to be exacteither..some say poplar, others say basswood)

so far.. the JB:
MUCH more mids and grind. overall better sound for palm mutes and soloing. i just cant explain it with words.. you'd have to hear it =/

the reflex pup:
a rather metallic sound (really trashy.. think kill em all 'tallica) but with added punch. less rounded and more agressive treble vise

i can 85% say it's not the guitar cos it sustains and resonates like there's no tomorrow with the floyd to boot
the 15% goes to the diference of woods (SG - mahagony neck and alder body; Charvel - maple neck and whatever the body wood is)

i'm a little bit bummed out, but not cos it sounds less good, but cos i dont have the money to change the electronics right now =/

*sigh* i'm gonna see if i got something to trade for a TB-4

I don't mean to be blunt..but I will be. :laugh2:

Those old Charvel pups suck. Period (IMO, of course).

A jb might be a little trebly too in a basswood/poplar body, but will be far better than the crap charvel was using in those days.

BTW...Basswood is usually fairly light, but then again you're playing an SG which is much thinner...and the Charvel has the extra weight of the floyd.

and i'm kinda waiting for a friend of mine who's got a RG so i'll be able to compare the floyd (i want to see the diferences) and the weight of the whole guitar

yea, the SG is rather thin, but it shouldnt be as light as mine is IMO =P

Davey, I wasn´t really happy with the sound of the Bridge pickup either, it was too 80s metal for me, I probably would have switched it out soon if I would have kept her.

If I were you (IIRC you were in the process of selling the SG, and wanted to do that with teh original PUPS, or??), I´d drop the JB in the Charvel with new pots (the Reflex electronics won´t work with passives), and try to trade the 59 for a Cool Rails or Lil 59

BTW, The Charvel IS poplar (remember who previously owned her )

well... i dont have the stock pups, like i told ya previously (i think it was you.. or was it ben? doesnt matter) .. i got a powersound at home, but i dont have a hearth to put it into the SG and i just have one =/ so if i was to sell her the 59 would have to stay in .. of course i could try and get another powersound ... .. meh, but then i cant sell it for as much.

and ... right now, i'm in no hurry to sell the SG.
i'm gonna go buy the pots and replace the JB with the PoS then go buy another PoS (or if you zerb know anyone that would be willing to part with theirs) and put it in the neck. sell the axe for less (but i'll come off on top anyway cos i wont have to buy any duncans)
then trade the white '59 for a black hotrail or JBJr and the white JB for a black TB-4 (again i'm turning to you tim, if you know someone .. or if you got a spare black TB-4 to trade for my JB) or i'll just trade with someone from the board who's in europe

as for the PoS's and the SG .. i'm still gonna need that switch ring and two decals and 12 slotted screws to at least make it better looking.

Wait to hear if you like the JB as much as you think first, you may want to trade it off for something else.....A Coolrails I think would sound rad in that axe, or Maybe I´ve got a hotter original Jackson Single coil like a J-100L (the USA ones, not the POS Charvel pickups mentioned) in my box somewhere if that´s your fancy.... I´d set the JB for splitting in the middle position

*Edit* Just remembered, I´ve still got the black DimArghZio HS-3 that I took out of my Fusion that I haven´t raped yet.....if you want to save it before it becomes my B*t*h... :laugh2: ... good condition and the lead should also be long enough (was @ the neck).... name a price, it´s worthless to me...*edit*

a decal to pimp the axe out a bit. one above the bridge pup and one above the neck (and to cover up the screw hole the p-90 dogear cover left)

But Rockinger has PAF and Distortion Hummies for 25€ a pop......and Duncan Lil series and Rails seem to be 75€ each.....LMK
