the absolute TIGHTEST bridge humbucker?

so of all the pickup brands, which model has the most tightest, punchiest, zero-mud/mush response, through a super high-gain full-stack?

I can think of these right off:

EMG 81
SD Full Shred
DiMarzio Megadrive
Bareknuckle Nailbomb

any others?

thanks!

Re: the absolute TIGHTEST bridge humbucker?

Add the Gibson Iommi! Precise as hell and is nothing like anything I have ever played! That includes the Full Shred and the 81!

Re: the absolute TIGHTEST bridge humbucker?

Tone aside, strictly the tightest, would be EMG81 or DiMarzio Evo.

Tightest with good tone I'd say 707, Evo, or 85.

Re: the absolute TIGHTEST bridge humbucker?

EMG for sure but then there is the problem that your tone is shot to hell!

For a very tight bridge pickup WITH good tone I'd go for the Gibson Iommi...I have a pair on a guitar and they are killer pickups.

The man makes a good point; it's not like your tone couldn't be godly with EMG's.
The problem is people have a very closed mind for what is "good" tone.

And back on topic, the EMG 81 is definitely the tightest.

Re: the absolute TIGHTEST bridge humbucker?

Out of the ones I've tried it would be the EMG 60, Screamin Demon, Pearly Gates +, and Custom modified with a large ceramic mag.

Re: the absolute TIGHTEST bridge humbucker?

I always think about Lawrence when it comes to tightness. Hairthin blades with zero eddy currents make it over every round polepieces and screws pup.

Re: the absolute TIGHTEST bridge humbucker?

You definitely want A5 or Ceramic. The C-5 and Custom are two with great tone and a tight response with highgain.

Re: the absolute TIGHTEST bridge humbucker?

Hmmmmm, DSS: are the 707s pretty tight and articulate under high gain with palm muting?

I feel that the blaze pickups are a little too thin and muddy.

Him and I argue this back and forth, but I find the 85s a tad too muddy, and the 707 is just an 85 that's been extended for a seven string.

I'll turn the tide here :D Tightest I ever heard/tried

Megadrive with blade to bridge
FullShred bridge
Custom

In order :)

The Gibson Iommi beats them all bro!

BTW, I have played the Dimarzio Evolution that alot of people have suggested on here and IMO the Iommi is still tighter and more precise!

Re: the absolute TIGHTEST bridge humbucker?

The Bartolini 1D03, PBF 77D, or V94D will rival any mentioned. The Evo is interesting because then you have to ask what tight means to everybody. The extra upper mids (like the full shred) can make it sound squeaky so that any extra finger noise is very prevalent, and comes through as white noise between chords. I would say the Evo, Full Shred, and Megadrive are more limited by the players ability to play tightly than some of the others. But they all are very tight. The Bartolinis use blades, and I agree that the thin Lawrence blades are a big part of why the L500 is so tight. So my subgrouping would include the Lawrences, Bartolinis, and maybe the Dimebucker and 81.
