Hollowbody archtop. Clapton's best tone IMHO was the ES-335 with original PAFs that he used in the early days.
When I think blues, really early rock, I think about the archtops. Certainly, Les Pauls into Marshalls are the setup everyone thinks about when they hear rock, but they didn't come around until later. Strats have been around for a long time, but I just don't like single coil bridges, especially for rock.
