"The" archetypical stratsound?? Antiquity Surfers will do the job!!

A while ago I posted a thread in which I asked for advice for a minihumbucker (bridgeposition) in combination with two antiquity II surfer singlecoils.
All of you guys who send a reaction: thanks a lot!
But honestly, I've been way to impatient with my surfer set!
I just had it installed on my guitar for a few days when I contacted the forum and even though I loved the sound of these pups right away, I've been so used to having a humbucker in my strat's bridgeposition for years, I did feel a bit "naked" without it. What a fool I was! Since then I used the guitar on about 12 gigs, in different clubs, halls and pubs, in combination with my Fender Hotrod Deville. Let me tell you: IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THAT "CLASSIC" STRATSOUND (cliché cliché) GO FOR THESE PUPS!! THEY'RE ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! THEY CAN EVEN CHANGE A AVERAGE STRAT INTO A GREAT SOUNDING INSTRUMENT. FROM HENDRIX (WONDERFUL "LITTLE WING SOUND"!) TO SRV, NILE RODGERS TO MARK KNOPFLER, ROBERT CRAY TO ED KING (INTRO "SWEET HOME ALABAMA"!) THERE ARE SO MUCH COLOURS IN THIS SOUND, IT KEEPS INSPIRING, TIME AFTER TIME!! This may sound a bit over the top, but I'm really amazed about the incredible improvement of sound in my dear old strat. Just wanted to let you guys know..............
Oh yes, with my little built-in, on/off switchable preamp, I have plenty of gain available to make the thing rock and roar like something else, without losing any strat character, so even that field is covered.

I ahve two antiquities, and several SSL-1's /2's , ApS pickups and even a five two on the way. From what I understand, the Antiquity is really, as you say , discernably better than anything else, although the other Duncan vintage Strat pickups really arent very much behind at all. Its like paying a lot extrea for a tiny margin of improevement. Than again, "tone is everything" so thats why I have two Antiquities.

That seems to be the way of the world. You can get 90% of perfection fairly cheaply. The next 8% doubles the price, and that last 1% is astronomical. Its just the way it is.

My Antiquity, in my Squier Tele, may be the only pup I have thats there for good. Everything else is flexible.

i'm sorry, but i just didn't hear very much difference between the surfers and the ssl-1's. i am convinced that the ssl-1's are a tremendous bang for the buck when it comes to classic strat tone. there's just nothing to complain about with the ssl's

I like having a Surfer Custom Bridge, which I roll off to 7 or 8, to make it sound as beefy as a 59B, but still have the single coil tone. I never touch the tone control on the neck and middle....always 10.

Strat pickups are funny. There can be 5 brands built just like Surfers, yet they all sound a little different.
