Hails guys.. i was Thinking here, without NOTHING TO DO, as you problably know... and an iadea came into my mind :
why the biggest pickup companies, dimarzio, duncans, emgs , fralins, etc don´t United Themselves to research in A pickup with a basic EQd sound that Let´s us Hear The Guitar WOODS properly without worry about some things like " Ohh, my guitar has a mahogany body, and if i put a bassy pickup, it will muddy, etc etc etc"
The main purpose f this Basic Pickup is not for Comercial sales, it is for Research sales only. think.... the purpose of releasing this pickup is to let people (customers, luthiers, etc) choose, knowing and comparing the sound of their guitars(wood/bridge/hardware) to a FUTURE pickup acquisition( Be IT Duncan, Dimarzio Or emg.). So, said that, the Owner of this pickup will choose the RIGHT pickup for his guitar... and that will make things easy for those pickup manufactores. they will post their EQ, specs and soundclips on their cds, homepages etc and people will have proper stuff to figure out which pickup, brand and model to choose for their guitars
