The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

And I thought at some point little boys out grew dick and fart jokes...

Again, with another on of your stupid retorts on one of my post, just to be the jerk of 2012, 2013, etc…

It seems that you search this forum looking for my post just to harass me.

You never stop being the jerk now do you? Message for the boy who plays with fire!

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

the old ones are really great speakers! want one bad for my 5e3

Nice speakers! Smooth. Maybe a little to smooth for my tastes tho.

I like the treble of a vintage Celestion G12 alnico better. That's what I used in my 5E3's. Still have a few - I use a silver one in my blackface Deluxe Reverb.

I've owned some vintage Jensen P12N's too. Liked them but liked the G12 Celestions a bit more.

Come on Larry...no need to get upset...

You made a dumb post then I made a dumb post...no need to take it personally.

Do you need to file a report?

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

They look to be Rola's based on the code. Well worth trying out, I had a set that was too bright, but these look a bit heavier duty.... I always toss em in just to see how they sound, usually end up with good sounds.

I found the same info when I started to search out the codes. Any idea what the wattage handling for these things was? I could easily order an unloaded avatar 2x12 cab and stick these things in it and have a great 2x12 cab. Just wondering what kind of wattage I'm looking. I'm assuming relatively low.

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

I would guess 15 to 20 watts per speaker??? A guess is all I got...

I can see where they might be too smooth for some people. I have a lot of cabs that have some bite, so I like hanging in the mids with these guys. I imagine one could have great results pairing em with another speaker.

I put one in my 5E3. Loved the '58 P12Q I had in there but the P12N was to smooth for that amp. It's the only amp I tried it with.

I like Q's better most of the time but sometimes you need the extra handling of an N speaker.

The P12Q is my fav alnico Jensen and I put 'em right up there with the old G12 Celestions.

The P12Q (the original 50's version) is my favorite Jensen in a 5E3 - that's for sure.

I have a pair of them in a stereo cabinet from the 50's. I need to do something with them. The stereo hasn't worked in ages.

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

I think I see myself starting a 'what speaker' thread after I get the Swart (or similar) ... :)

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

A good friend has a set of Qs, we both find em a bit too toppy. But, it always depends on the amp and cab....

The Fender tweed Deluxe (5E3) needs that top. It's kind of dull without a bright-ish speaker that also has some good bass. :)

Put 'em in an amp!!!!

Those are too cool to just let sit...

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

Why did you not mention Tungsten in my Swart thread??

How do you rate those amps?

Never posted in the thread...

Tungsten's sound cool...will admit I've never played one in person.

I have tried the speaker in a different amp but never played the amp it came from.

In the world of tweeds I dig the stuff from Kendrick, Clarke and Mission.

As for the Swart stuff is not Fender clone and to be dead honest I'm not that familiar with it.
