the best mini-amp?

so theres a lot in the market, mini twins, mini marshall, danelectro honeytone, and a few more.

what's the best of them? id like to use it with a friend playing acoustic, would it keep up to it volume wise? (without a horrible break up that is, some mild overdrive is ok)

Slighty larger than a mini...

I've been impressed with the roland cube series. This is the smallest.

Probably twice the dough of one of those minis you pictured but a real amp...not a toy.

the fender mini twin with the tweed is is the best one to my ears. ironically enough i have played thru 3 of those you pictured: besides the mini twin i own the marshall and a friend lent me the honeytone once. the thing i love about the fender is that it has a great clean tone in addition to a overdrive and fuzz. not to hijack your thread but has anyone ever mic'd one of these and used it on a recording?

I used the Marshall on the OD mode with tone and volume all the way up for a cheap sounding fuzz for one of my experiments...

I just bought the Roland Micro-cube for the bedroom, great little amp- good cleans, some interesting models-sounds good with phones, and yes, it records VERY well, we used one in the studio last time, and you'd never know it wasn't a big amp, we used the line/recording output to the board.

Got to agree with you on the Twin. I remember a few years ago someone on here recorded a really nice clip and challenged us to figure out what amp he was using. In the end it was a close mic'd Mini Twin and it recorded wonderfully.

Check out the Roland micro cube RX. Great features -option for mic input and works well with acoustic guitar in true stereo AND it runs for a good long time on 6 AA batteries.

There is no decent Marshall sound though... The only decent high gain setting is the recto setting. Other than that, no complaints. I use one in my classes from 12:00 to 3:00 everyday.

I once ran a line to the pa out of the headphone port of the little Marshall. If you take a couple of minutes to dial it, it will sit in a band well enough.

The Roland micro cube can be made to sound good when ran this way, too.
