they used an early 70`s JMP with a MV mod in the studio on the first two CD`s, listen carefully, thats not a jubilee.

Didn't both Rich R. and Marc F. switch amps again? Now they use Headstrong, Armstrong or something like that. I guess I should have just Googled it to be sure. Anyway they are more boutique guitar amps in some of the most beautiful looking cabs that you will ever see.

Southern Harmony sounds very much like Jubilees to me.

Yeah. Well, Marc is no longer in the band (one of the many reasons I'm no longer the huge fan of them I once was). But right up until he quit, he was using a mix of Roccaforte and Schreyer Audio amps. Rich gave new guitarist Paul Stacey one of his Harry Joyce heads to use, but now Rich is using a Headstrong Prima 30 and a Marshall head of some sort, JTM45 I believe. He also used a 65Amps Marquee (or perhaps a Royal Albert, not 100%) a bit of last year.

The first two records are mostly Jubilees, as far as I know. That solo on Hard to Handle is actually producer Brendan O'Brien. Great tone on that too.

So, sounds like a Jubilee to you? This is an excerpt from an interview with Rich Robinson about his gear, notice the reference to his `72 Marshall 50w JMP:

RR I actually have four '58 juniors, as well as one Les Paul TV and one
all-rosewood Junior, both of them with doubled cutaways. And then I have
this Led Paul special, but thinner-similar to what Bob Marley played.
And I have this really cool Les Paul Goldtop- I think it is like a
50-something-with a Bigsby.
WG Tell me about your amps.
RR I bought this Fender Tremolo- one of those really old blond
amps-with like 30 watts. I used one of those through a Marshall
cabinet. I also have a Fender Super Reverb, two older Twin Reverbs and
a
1972 50-watt Marshall that is in perfect condition. GW You don't use any
effects?
RR No. I just plug in. you can get a lot of cool sounds from different
amps but people are lazy about taking advantage of that. Gw What do you
mean?
RR I don't think they take time to think about the fact that they can
experiment with their amps sound as opposed to just relying on effects

He probably used a Jubilee too though. Check this out.

Those guys have such deep collections, you can never really tell what their using! Rich use to have a thing on his website with his entire collection listed, now he just has pictures of his guitars. Go here and click on gear...some cool geetar pics!

Of course they used them on tour, you don`t take your prized recording amps on the road. they used the Jubilee`s on tour for practical reasons, for the channel switching, and so that they could have several identical backup amps. They were probably rentals, and part of the tour package.
