I wqas messin around with height settings and found that the DD sounds very sweet when set far from the strings
It still has aggression but takes on a more P.A.F type tone, this was a very pleasent suprise!
reminds me of EVH's old tone

One of Duncan's best pickups.

I still don't get why some people think the pickup will sound more aggressive closer to the strings. It doesn't, it makes it sound more like poop.

I agree!
what made me start to think is that the DD has a very strong magnet and i said to myself hey this may be affecting the sustain so i backed it quite a bit away and it sounded great!
it got more expressive and gained a certain sweetness it did not have closer to the strings, i really am impressed with it. :32:

Yeah once you get it close enough to the strings where it really starts pulling on them it sounds like terd. I love that pickup.

Pickup height is one very important adjustment to tone.

It can make a harsh pickup softer, and a weak pickup more powerful.

We tend to think that closer to the strings will give us the full extent of the pickup. Not always something you want.
