the elusive wide range humbucker

Anyone have good ideas for a humbucker that would be tonally and technically similar to the original fender telecaster custom wide range humuckers? Because, lets be honest here, the pups on the new mexican tele customs suck.

EDIT:

LOL! Oops. I just read the notes: "This pickup is not a direct replacement for the Fender® "wide-range" pickup."

The Rio Grande 72 Tele humbuckers follow along the same lines but the bridge is fatter-sounding. Single coil clarity and punch but without the thinness or noise. They're tonally similar - at least closer than the Fender repros.

Nothing is technically similar due to the unique magnetic alloy used in the original pups. you can search the net for days (like I did) and you'll come up empty-handed. the magnetic material is not readily available in sizes (and quantities) that a small pickup builder can utilize. no one makes true reproductions.

I have a barely used Rio Grande set that I no longer need if you're interested (I now have a custom 72 tele-parts-caster that uses standard sized pups). night and day better than the Fender repros and instead of $600 for a set of originals, you can have mine for $110 shipped. trying to help out other forum members before I put them on Ebay at a higher price.
