The Fender Stratocaster Club

Re: The Fender Stratocaster Club

Old thread!

Well, my Strat now is a 94 Strat Plus, with a new Fralin equipped pickguard dropped in. Vintage Hots, bridge overwound. The first full set of SC pups I've ever been totally happy with.

Strats have always been my main work axe, although Les Pauls have been in the line up too. The Strats always had a full size HB rout in the bridge, though, filled w/an X2N or Invader. I did have a QP for a while, also, which was great.

I'm not into the hot pups like I used to be. Sure was fun, though. I do have a Hamer for 'other stuff'!

Re: The Fender Stratocaster Club

2006 Fender Aerodyne Strat with cream binding, no pickguard, vintage tuners, stock pickups.

I have a Seymour Duncan hot rails and two hot stacks on order though :1:, I'll put up pics once installed. Hum cancellation ftw!

Re: The Fender Stratocaster Club

That is one beautiful Strat. I do not think that Fender ever made a Olympic White Strat with that vintage white pearl pickguard.
I don't know that they did. It's a Jimmie Vaughan. That's just how she came when I picked her up on Ebay. I've never been much for Oly white with a true white pickguard, and I kinda liked it this way. One of my friends said I need a big purple hat with a feather in it when I play it, though. :D

I just realized I didn't add my newest addition. I apologize for the dark picture. I'd retake it, but it's already prepped for repainting. MIM, for anyone who's curious.

Re: The Fender Stratocaster Club

For some reason I have difficulties starting a new thread and it is new guitar day for me.

So I'll just join the Stratocaster club with my new guitar:

Say congrats guys... finally have it, my own Strat and it has that big headstock to fit my Hendrix/Blackmore fixation.

Sweeeet, I don't know, I'm not fixated in a specific guitar (I think) but to me there's just something magical in a Strat. And this one's a beauty to boot (maple fingerboard all the way too:D)

Congrats man!!!

Re: The Fender Stratocaster Club

Did I post this before? Not sure. Anyway, one 'Lonestar' from around 2000 for your delectation. It's a bit modded, but perhaps gets more airtime than the rest.

nice! when you installed that wilkinson bridge did you notice a drastic change in tone? i bought one about a year ago and installed it into mine and for some reason the whole sound of the guitar seemed to cahnge but maybe im crazy lol I always wondered if anyone else had that same experience.. i kinda liked that bridge otherwise, but it didnt sound right so i had to go back to the fender one..

Re: The Fender Stratocaster Club

It's so long ago now, I don't remember. I know I like the way the bridges themselves are made and wouldn't hesitate to put one into any trem guitar I happened to have. For me, there are bigger tonal changes to be had from switching pickups or amps than the bridge, so I don't worry too much about it.

I has to do with the saddles. That's why Wilkinson also has a Bent Saddles model for those that want that bell-like chime the vintage bridge has.
That's the one I ordered for my MiM ;)

Re: The Fender Stratocaster Club

I've owned 5 USA Strat's, mostly 70's models. The love/hate thing became pure hate and i gave up on them for years. Recently i got this 1982 Tokai SilverStar 70's replica and it leaves all the Fenders I owned for dead.

I fitted a Callaham bridge and BareKnuckle Apache pickups, CTS 300K pots, PIO cap, new switch and scratchplate. It looks 70's but feels 60's (neck) and sounds 50's (pickups). Best Strat I have ever owned.

(sorry about the poor pic, my camera must be a Leonardo Da Vinci prototype, hehe. The burst is far better looking in reality, the pic was taken in bright sunlight which makes it look pale and cheapo)

Not long after getting the Tokai, i got the opportunity to buy back a '69 Fender Strat (big headstock, 4-bolt neck) that i had sold to a mate about 23 years ago. It is modified and beat-up but the price was good. I am currently restoring it, it will be natural wood with Tru Oil, BK Irish Tours and Callaham bridge. It's amazing to have a guitar come back after so many years, and to be more in tune with it this time around, probably thanks to the Tokai.

I am lucky enough to have some fine Gibson style instruments for rock and so i don't need to try to fit humbuckers and rails into these Strats, they are gonna be S/S/S all the way. Strats will always be mechanical nightmares, but they are so comfortable and sound like nothing else. I often think how futuristic they would have looked back in the 1950's, and how their look is now still the epitomy of electric guitar even after all the intervening years.
