"The Future is Now" (trippy acoustic song, any constructive criticism?)

I wrote and recorded a song just now in under 30 minutes. i I want you to hear it, all one-take-wonders. I am always wanting constructive criticism of course, as I am a musician. I tapped on my acoustic to make drums.

Here are the lyrics: In all my time its never been easy never been clear
I keep on trucking, the only way I know, you know me
It’s a dream my life Im so amazed, surreal landscape unfolds
The beauty of it all in the now, I still turn the page

Cause when I look to the future
Im still in the now
Im in the now
While I turn the page

My life moves toward creation, like being on acid
Shiny and luscious landscape of colors explode into my mind

The shapes and forms move, some will align and some fall by the wayside
I know my goal I know who I am, that much Im clear, to you
Its never been easy, every cowboy sings that same same song
Trust me I love my life and every moment is beautiful and clear

Does your DAW software permit a click track to be routed exclusively to the headphones that you wear whilst tracking?

Thirty days, huh?

I have been using Apple Logic since 2007. I still would not claim to know half of it thoroughly. ;)

ok ya it prolly has the same feature, if not then metronomes are like 5 bucks and you can plug in earbuds

Re: "The Future is Now" (trippy acoustic song, any constructive criticism?)

Cool idea, but the rhythm is a train wreck!

thanks guys :) thanks for the listen

lol no one can disagree the rhythym is an out of control goofy fingertapping on a guitar lol

If there was a little more raspiness in your voice you would sound like Axl in that song.

Thoroughly Burroughs.

Mix that down pretty low. Send plenty of it into a cavernous reverberation effect. This will contribute to the general weirdness of the piece.

Still too much percussion in the mix for my tastes but, you have to admit, it does contribute an element of mystery and/or confusion. (As in, WTF is that scrabbling noise? Indian percussionists on acid or your guitar turning into a giant beetle?) Imagine the sounds of people in a cinema audience, unwrapping candy or munching potato chips. That is the kind of subliminal level at which I would mix the guitar tapping sounds.

When the song picks up again after the break in the middle, you appear to have an Indian Modal thing going on. This is where additional instruments suggestive of traditional Indian or Persian music would help. THINK: Page & Plant's album, No Quarter. Drone strings, sitars, that sort of thing.

Play any old rubbish. Reverse the audio. Whack plenty of reverb on it. Instant "Revolver".

Sigg'd!! :)

cool bro! I love the Revolver album and the trippy beatles stuff. Im currently listening to the band "Black Pussy" (capitalized for reference to the band only). They do some trippy stuff too. when I was in Austin I caught the Black Angels live, they do some stuff similar to the Austin Band "13th Floor Elevators" from the 1970s that do some weird diggery doo stuff with bottle sounds... I suppose to end this thread with some weirdness Ill post me singing to some diggery doo type stuff for good measure:
