Reb Beach is even better TECHNICALLY than George Lynch.
But George Lynch is a guitar god, Beach isn't and will never be.
George Lynch has it all:
-KILLER, classic riffs
-KILLER classic solos
-Melodic and rythmic licks that just stay in mind
-Incredibelivable TONE
-His guitars (they all have a different story and he built the tiger van halen style in 1980)
I am not an 1980's nostalgic since i was born in 1982, but i'm a LYNCH die hard fan i have all his albums i'm part of the dojo building my own tiger and all.
There were many great players during the hair metal period. And i never really liked Don Dokken singing stupid songs likle "in my dreams our love is strong and never ends".
But man, george lynch ROCKS. I mean if I (an ex-punk grunge kid) can stand dokken (Hair Metal **** with stupid songs about love and ballads), this really has to be for a good reason.
It's definitely not for the drums.
The bass is Ok but not outstanding.
BUT THE GUITAR ****IN ROCKS !
Yes George has a cult following and just to know i can't attend the dojo week-end in LA makes me sick............
(i live in paris....)
Funny..as I think Reb has got all George has technically, and also brings the much needed melodic sensibilities and ability to constrain himself....very underrated guitar player, Mr. Beach is.
Though their lead tones are fairly similar..thin..squeaky

There is hope for this planet if an ex punk-grunge kid is into Mr.Scary. Absolutely, I will never be able to say: this guys has this Lynch tone/approach to pick harmonics/flat fith in a double stop aproach, why ? because Reb Beach is a fantastic musiscian that has nothing signature about him. I could not stand him in Dokken, Levin is much better, at least he is not afraid to just do the Lynch thing.

No, I'm referrring to their live stuff. Prince avoids putting great guitar stuff on his records, but he pulls them out live. Go on youtube and check him out playing at the Rock and Roll hall of fame, playing while my guitar gently weaps.

GL is my favorite. Listen to the vibrato on the Hunter... his tone in general is amazing (im sure the producers didnt hurt)....
Funny, we saw him play at the house of blues in OC, and the women we were with were pissed off because he never acknowledged the crowd once (he played as George Lynch, and had some singer). But thats part of the mystery of GL.
