Re: The Guts of an Acoustic..

looks great. do you make all the bracing and kerfing yourself or just do final shaping?

Re: The Guts of an Acoustic..

All the bracing I make, that way i can get the grain orientation the way I want it,
the Kerfing is Stew Mac stuff, I like it.

Re: The Guts of an Acoustic..

Because, you know, his electric building completely dominant chops were not enough glory...has to ruin it for acoustic builders too.

Dude - you would rock a beer coaster.

Re: The Guts of an Acoustic..

What kind of wood is that? You always pick the nice looking ones. Thanks for sharing!

Re: The Guts of an Acoustic..

That's a stunning looking guitar with the wood. Good job on creating a masterpiece.

Thats Black Limba, which isnt the actual guts of the one shown..
I just put that there to illustrate the point..

This is Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle with a quilted maple back plate

Re: The Guts of an Acoustic..

Peter doesn't do ANYTHING half-assed. Even a beer coaster. Nothing but perfection inside and out.

Re: The Guts of an Acoustic..

I know it's a business, but I couldn't imagine building masterpieces, then watching them leave. It'd be like selling children. If people grinded me on the price, I'd tell them "conversation's over." :D

I did that with CDs...recorded them, sold the only copies (one of each). repeat x50. Quite a lesson in 'letting go'. I would think hand-building guitars is the same.

Re: The Guts of an Acoustic..
