wow...for a change, i decided to go to drop D tuning.

and i suddenly realized how great the JB was for drop tunings. ive heard that the JB handles low tuning pretty well..i guess it was right :)
the low E had chunk, fat bottom end, and clarity. very tight sounding too. (for me it was) what more could you ask?? :laugh2:

i played it through a guitar shop's Marshall valvestate100R. i also played it through my little practice amp. :smack: but hell, they both sounded awesome. imagine what it would sound like if it had some real nice tube amps to be played through.

PS: what other duncan humbuckers handle down tuning very well? i don't know a lot about the other HB's so if you could post some impressions with down tunings on certain pups, i'd appreciate it :)

I don't know if it counts, but I always tune to Eb.

I've used the JB for Eb, and it does rule, as always!

Right now, I'm using the FSb...it does a great job of maintaining clarity with the flatter tuning...the harmonics are great and it stays really tight. Overall great pickup if you're into gain.

Re: the JB never ceases to amaze me

The Custom handles drops pretty well, a friend of mine plays with drop C all the time and says its great.

Re: the JB never ceases to amaze me

Custom for sure, I've dropped to C# and it still won't get sludgy.

Re: the JB never ceases to amaze me

Custom or JB....that is the question.

The Rio Grande BBQ is even fatter and chunkier and still tight to me.

I have a Custom on the way!

Re: the JB never ceases to amaze me

This Schecter Classic I got not too long ago came set up in D, and that JB does sound really sweet at that tuning, don't it?
And the Jazz in the neck sounds that much more richer. I've got both 'em split, too. Talk about some really cool strat tones.

Re: the JB never ceases to amaze me

My one Strats permanatly set to either D standard or drop C and it's a great pickup for that job. Lots of clarity, good chunk, thick bottom and strong mids.
