The Joys Of Pickup Selecting. Would you like to share my joy?

I have a USA Hwy 1 Tele with a Fralin Hot Tele bridge pup (10K).. i love it! I've always hated tele neck pups though, and just sold the Fralin tele pup I had in the neck (which was under powered in matching with the bridge anyway)... So.. anyway.. I routed under the pickguard and put a no-name smoked chrome covered "Paf" style pup in it.. not happenin'. It does sound bad, the high end is decent.. but it's muddy as all hell.

I really, really want a chrome or nickel covered pup for the neck. I dont want something that'll over power the bridge pup.. but.. don't wanna spend $130 for a Fralin humbucker! Which, I was really set on doing until 5 minutes ago.

I've heard that SD's Jazz model is an excelent choice.. but would it balance well do ya think? I like a nice sparkly high end.. with a low end that just sort of fits in with it. Know what I mean? Not booming and over powering of the high strings.

The Jazz would probably do that well. It's a very, very versatile pickup. It should balance pretty well, it's not a high output pickup. I think it'd be a good choice.

sounds like the jazz is a good choice for what you are looking for. lower output and great clarity with a tight bottom end
