THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

Re: THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

The whole thing reeks if you ask me. And im beggining to see a nuunace of the new younger Computer culture that I hadnt noticed. I mean guys that grew up with computers( remember, I was playing "pong" in my late 20's and was absolutley amazed by it).:
Thats a propensity to give anyone validity simply becasue he/shes puts some bytes/bits or wahtever in the form of intelligable languge. I fell prey to that myself with some chick recently who back in my day and age we wouldve never even said two words ever again for all eternity after our last date. Instead i dragged out a three month internet conversation with her that served one purpose- to humiliate me.
Anyway, this guy is pure B.S>
I am beggining to know BS when i see it and get a whiff of it by now. Not always, but the easy stinky BS is getting easier to spot.

What would be the point in fabricating this story? There's nothing to be gained if the story is not true. Maybe this guy just gets off on fooling people? I'm more apt to think he's sincere rather than wasting his time making up a rather elaborate story.

Re: THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

Well, there's the fun of seeing all the people around get excited about him receiving guitars that all of us would sell our moms and testicles for...

Re: THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

Where did he go after folks started calling BS? I want to see them suckers too!

Re: THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

Not really a surrogate son.. Just someone who sat around and give him the time of day and much more than that... I could have done without these guitars.. I gained a great friendship with someone who knew he was gonna die. I serviced all his oxygen equipment and enteral foods.. he was ahell of a guy.. but i will go buy a digital camera in teh next few days and snap a few shots of them.. Most people look at these elderly people and luagh at them cause they are hunchback or move real slow.. or at deformities.. I have seen many people this business in many ways that would make most people cringe.. but i treat them like friends and care for them like my own family.. this is just something that blew my mind.. Something that i would have never expected in a million years

This is why I am happy for you bro, you were there for your friend and didn't expect anything. Your kindness AND friendship were rewarded, looking forward to the pics. Treasure your memories through those guitars.

Re: THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

Man i bet you made him happier by hanging with him than even yuo feel with these gem guitars.... goes to show that being nice can sometimes get you free ****!

Re: THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

After reading through all this I'm not inclined to say one way or the other if it's a fabrication. The story as it stands is touching and heart-warming. The one thought I did have after reading the original post was: "Geez....he's 25, has a secretary and just inherited roughly 7 figures worth of guitars. My life sucks in comparison."

Re: THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

Congratulations! As someone else said, what great karma. Most of all, it sounds like you really contributed to his happiness, which is what matters most. It's amazing how music can do so much.

Here are much less impressive examples, as a beginner I know mostly kid's songs. I also have kids (ages 7 and 10) as well as younger nieces and nephews. Well, on the last day of school, my kids had an all day picnic at a local park, so I took my guitar to practice. Usually, I embarass my kids (hey, it's what dads do), but afterwards my little girl said, I was "cool dad" because I could play songs and teach the kids songs that they all knew.

On another occassion, after only playing for 3 months, I was asked to play after some pretty impressive guitar players at a youth hostel in Brazil. I played Amazing Grace and everyone was pretty unimpressed. Someone said, "Well, it's a start." Then I played the only other adult song that I knew, When The Saints Go Marching In. Well, the only other American in the room was born and raised in New Orleans. As soon as I started playing, she started singing/chanting some New Orleans Football version of the song in a way that showed that I had struck a nerve. It was the first time I ever moved someone with my playing, and one of the memories that keeps me going.

Likewise, every time you see or play those guitars, they will bring up some wonderful thoughts and feelings. Congratulations

:bsflag:
100,000 worth of vintage guitars and you guys are snapping it up. Man...:lame:
Sorry bros. No harm in being trusting..but for a man with 34 posts ... I'd put my trust in a established forum brother before a newb who comes on and tell us this ,imo, fabrication.
Why do you all persist in this aggrandizement of this persons story .?To me its obvious he's playing on the sentimentality of well meaning bros with the story of the terminally ill benefactor.
Hey, I wasnt wrong about the girl poster in "off topic", and i got savegly attacked for that. Hey.. that wasnt no girl.

Re: THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

I haven't written him off yet, but it's getting close to "put up or shut up" time.

Hope he's legit though.

Seriously?

If you really believe all that, I know a certain Nigerian prince that desperately needs your help.

Re: THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

The story was quite nice. Hopefully it's true, meh. Even if it's not. It's a nice thing to smile about (and dream about. Man I want something like that to happen to me).

Re: THe luckiest guy on earth right now!!!!

His profile shows that he has been active on the forums, but he hasn't replied to any posts on this thread since tuesday.

Stories like this should not be told unless they are told with pictures the first time.
I keep checking back, waiting for pics.
