Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

gain = 10
treble = 7.5
mid = 5.5
bass = 7.5
presence = 9
master = 2

look at the pic for graphic eq, this is estimated:
6 ~ 6.5 ~ 7 ~ 6.5 ~ 6

LEAD + EQ

Level knob anywhere from 3-10....

Don't forget I have my Boss CS-3 on at all times...

KGMESSIER, Give that a try and let me know what you think.

I know if you're not using bright GHS strings, high output humbucker, compression pedal, and the other factors that atribute to my sound, that you won't get it right on, but if you set your amp like that you may find a more "metal" tone that's been hiding... We'll see I guess.

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

I'd be using a Les Paul Standard with a JB in the bridge and '59 in the neck. I could try putting my compressor in there (Analog Man CompROSSor) but I have a funny feeling it would affect the tone negatively. I also have a TS9 modded to 808 specs. That might help bump things in the right direction.

I just remember plugging a stock Les Paul Standard straight into a Dual Rec and being blown away.

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

well I think we've figured out if you want the Dual Rec sound then you need a dual rec. The dual caliber has a great sound, but thats to me, let me know what you think when u try it again with your les paul.

That cabinet is badass. How does it sound compared to a standard 2X12?
Much better than what I was using. It blows away Horizontal 2X12's because you don't have to set it on something to get good sound projection.

It's the koolest looking and best sounding 2X12" I've ever played, that's why it's in THE METAL RIG!

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

KG, what were the results with your amp?

BTW, i'm not using the CS-3 anymore, and still getting a GREAT metal tone!

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

I wish my amp delivered more of a metal tone :(. That's why I want to get an SD livewire metal bridge pick up for my incoming RGT42dxfm! And I hear that some overdrive pedals sound bad on solid state! rarr!

YOU! Hurry up and figure out how to post clips of it!!!

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

Oooohhhh, most righteous setup you got there, Kac! Still lovin' that Spyder trem? They are truly the best, in my opinion! ;)

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

I do love the Spyder trem :)

I'm gettin' a POD 2.0 shortly and will be using it to help me make some clips, then just find a place to post 'em... I realize that you won't be able to hear my sweet amp if I record that way, but we'll see about that too :13:

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

Mesa still makes a vertical 2x12. They are expensive though. It's still on their site.

How does it work?
With the D-tuna, you put on a longer set screw to lock the string in and the d-tuna fits right onto it. then you tune the string to D, and when you put the d-tuna in (towards the headstock) it brings the note up to E, pulling it back out puts it in Drop D.

the bridge has to be blocked in order to keep the other strings in tune while using the d-tuna.

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

Whats the point if it only brings low E to low D?

thats not retuning all the other strings, is it?
