Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

I think the strat is the most metal guitar there is. All the best shredders use strats or strat style guitars. You need full access to the upper frets, this can only be achieved by a superior double cutaway....

I don't see lp's as a metal guitar but more country bumpkin chord casters. lol

Tell that to Mastodon, High On Fire, Kylesa, and lots of other heavy bands... :smokin:

Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

Calm down i was just joking i love lp's. But (i) think more neoclassical metal shredders use strats over lp's. i see way more (strat style) guitars in metal

I know teles are not just for rednecks, But they are the redneck guitar of choice.

Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

The average LP with something hot like a DD is better for metal than a strat IMO, as long as you don't need a floyd, cuz access LP's just look odd.... And i have to have at least 22 frets.

"Super strats" like ESP horizons and RG's are the best of both worlds though. Les Paul construction and routing with the long strat scale, double cutaways, and thin fast necks.

How so? esp horizons are of neck through construction and rg is bolt on. whilst lp being set neck.

I have a neck thru horizon, a set neck horizon, and the lower end horizons are bolt-on. Also the upper end RG's are set neck or neck thru. It was just a vague generalization.

What i was mainly referring to are the wood selections, humbuckers, and bridges.

I love the Gibson Explorer. James Hetfield of Metallica and Brendon Small of Dethklok are my biggest influences which made me get my Gibson. It's truly as much a beastly weapon as it is an amazing axe to shred on.

Aside from the Explorer I also really like my Jackson Randy Rhoads Pro Professional Series. It's a beast, but I think I like the Explorer's design just a bit more. Both are extremely metal.

What about Dean Zs or Xs with the V headstock? hehe I remember those (and the girls who were holding them) from guitar player magazine ads in the 80s. That says metal to me. One day I am gonna buy one just to piss off the other guys in my band. There is a band called Jucifer that has a giant wall of amps and the chick who plays guitar has a silver metallic-sparkle flying V Dean with a V headstock. THAT is metal!!!

^ she just recently got that guitar... she was using Squier Jagmasters for years :smokin:

Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

I would say the Ibanez Iceman is in the running for the title. Look hard there is a guitar in the picture.

As the official forum "Peaveyologist", I've got to give a shout-out to Peavey's Vicious 7.

Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

I don't get the "need" to have the pointiest guitar in the deepest shade of black that not even light can escape it..... The most metal rig would be a nylon acoustic through a fuzz pedal.

It's okay if you don't get it. Some of us like pointy guitars.
