The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

Re: The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

I can see it on the news.. Man bludgeoned to death with heavy Norlin era Les paul......

Yeah, that really stinks.. shoulda left alone. I had a no touch policy with mine, (ULESS I was supervising) even when I only had my squier strat. my son got it out once and gouged it on the case valance. big diff tho..

Re: The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

Hopefully, your brother steps up and pays for the repairs or a replacement based on what your dad wants. If he does not have a lot of money he can pay for the repair. If your dad is not happy then your brother can sell the guitar and make up the difference for a replacement.

This is why I'm pro-choice. Dont care how old they are...if they break a Gibson.. they get aborted.

Re: The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

well it got a little intense at the old mans i heard but my brother maned up and was just screamed at for about 20 minutes :) so now he is tasked with trying to find another one same color same year and my father said to him (my brother told me) word for word and i quote

" WTF were you thinking? You have 30 days to replace it with an identical guitar or you are going to have to change your Major to medicine that way you can surgically remove the rest of that guitar out of your ass"!!!!

then he took his guitar (my brothers new guitar he got for his B-day) and said. "in 30 days im going to smash this and then we will work on your amp"

I know its bad but i think its funny as hell :)

Re: The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

That's actually pretty fair deal your dad offered. If I were your brother I'd be on ebay and every kijiji/CL within 100 miles.

Re: The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

Holw cow!!! That really sucks for your dad! Things aren't looking good for your bro either.... lol

Re: The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

I was gigging in a pub recently (no stage) when some drunken slob decided to strap my guitar on and strike a series of poses for the amusement of his friends. I had to talk him down gently because I didn't want to risk any damage to the guitar. Once the guitar was safe I had to be restrained by my bandmates from whacking the guy with the nearest heavy object.

NOBODY touches my guitars and that includes my sons. They're great guys but why take the risk ?

Re: The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

Well, at least it wasn't the '62 LP SG (which is what I am assuming you meant).

At any rate, that's a shame, but the guitar is not dead! Take it to a professional and it can be made to play again. With finish touchup, it probably won't even break $250. Without, more like $100 to $150. Then he'll have two '78 Les Pauls! Most headstock breaks are not death sentences, and many are actually quite easy to fix. It was a dick move, but threatening to break the kid's guitar on purpose is also a dick move IMO.

I must agree.
Plus, if well glued/fixed, the headstock will become much harder and more resistant than it was before.

I don't know why all the fuzz about a snapped headstock...

Re: The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

I bet your brother crapped his pants when it happened for sure!

And you wonder why he left the house!

Re: The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

It is always a wonder how much stuff you can have in a double-wide trailer park home….

Well, it does lower the value of the guitar, regardless. I am all behind making him replace it. But breaking another guitar over this seems a bit overboard to me. Take it away for a time, make him sell it, whatever. But breaking it is nothing but straight-out retaliation, which doesn't do anybody any good.

Re: The old man almost crapped himself yesterday!!!

I jumped off a stage once with my sl1 and the headstock hit the ground before I did. One itty bitty paint chip. That how a real guitar is made boys.
