The One That Got Away

Does anyone here have a "one that got away" story? For me, it was my Jackson KBX bass. I got it last fall and I loved it right off the bat. It never got much playing time because you can't compete with my Fenders, but it was still a pretty nice bass in it's own regard. It had really smooth playability and action, cool tone and looks like you wouldn't believe. It just screamed metal.... unfortunately, as I've said, it never got into my rotation because I'm completely enamored with my Fenders. Also, it was neck-heavy, which makes it a really poor choice for jams and gigging.... not to mention the fact that I needed the money BADLY, so out the door it went.

It's too bad... if I gave it more of a chance to grow on me, it could have met it's potential. It was a cool bass, but I never really felt like it was MY cool bass. It probably has a better home now, anyway.

This wasn't mine, but it's the same model:

Re: The One That Got Away

A Mesa 400+ bass head for $500. I've been kicking myself for a while for passing that up.

Re: The One That Got Away

i was wanting to buy a Fender Roc-Pro 100 1/2 stack. the guy that owns the guitar shop finally got a used one in. $500 (CDN) ok i can live with that. came back a few days later with my money (read as 'mom' :p) and the owners just like, 'William, i sold your amp" an hour and a half before i got there.

My '77 LP Custom. I miss that guitar, but I don't know if I'd still have it now. I recently played a '79 Custom as I was thinking about getting another one and I HATED the neck shape. I really miss my old Soldano preamp.

Re: The One That Got Away

i owned a plaid blues saraceno model that I sold just because the offer was too good to refuse.... now I am looking all over for 1 again and I will probably have too pay way too much for it

A hardtail G&L Invader I saw on Ebay...I was going to snipe it, but my internet connection went out 10 minutes before the end. :yell:

Re: The One That Got Away

I've let a lot of stuff go I wish I had back, most notablely a really ugly but great sounding and playing 60's paisley tele and a '74 Super Lead that I blew the transformer in on the road using a blasted Altair attenuator and was talked into trading for a 2204 because i needed another amp immediately. I wish I had my Fender Rhodes back too, also my Mutron BiPhase and tons of PA equipment I sold.
