Sir....I will definitely take your idea into consideration. Someone else suggested gold metal control knobs.....I am considering those also........and still trying to avoid making my wife upset for spending the money that we really shouldn't be spending.

See....you guys are brilliant. That is something else I would definitely consider. I have owned several 12 string acoustic guitars that I had brass nuts for and they sounded excellent. Your idea is noted and someday perhaps a polished or gold plated brass nut.
