the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

Re: the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

^ that's what i'm saying...if you're gona look like that with the Nirvana-but-not-Nirvana shirt on and a purple Les Paul copy and a solidstate Ibanez amp then you need to tune the purple Les Paul copy to drop A# and turn every knob to 10

it's what the King would do

Re: the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

you guys rock..thanks you so much. for all the great info and suggestions..im feeling better, its 2 am ,i just woke up and wow..im not throwing up....i ate a super rare burger tuesday and paid for it all the way home...yes the gnx is a muti effects unit..if my initial test was any indication,at some point ,this amp will need some external distortion and gain.but your right i do need to warm to this amp dry.the gnx is a now out of production multi fx unit.,it was made by digi tech.its on the floor in front of the gear.

well this has been a great introduction to the tube amp club.this peavey wil be my tube amp class room till i get the amp ive been drooling over, and that would be a mesa stilletto trident,or a diamond amplification phantom.

Re: the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

we are witnessing the birth of a tube amp geek
Yup, hehe, it's a great thing.

I gotta say the title of this thread kinda worried me at first ... i thought it might have translated to " 120 watt amp is putting out 8 watts" or whatever a Fender Champ was rated at. hehe. I'm happy that wasn't the case. Now looking forward to hearing about all those gigantic fat DeciBels shaking the house.

alright guys knock it off..im gettin misty..lol..i will admit for the most part being happy with my solid state amps, except for the marshall mg..what a waste of good sawdust and wires...with the new techonological advancements, solid state can sound pretty good..that ibanez head is killer for what it is.

Dont change a thing, the rusty parts give it mojo and character. Now ,like I told you before, get that GNX away from your amps :)

You're in Houston. Have you been over to Jeff Diamant's shop? I wonder if he's cool and if he would let you play around with his amps. He's probably got a bunch of DBZ guitars over there too.

omg..yes..i live 2 blocks from diamond amplification..my buddy gregg gill ,is part owner of diamond studios, also partly owned by bobby blotzter.these studios are in the same building as diamond amplification.i popped in one day and greg took me over to diamond amplification.i plucked around on a phantom head that was being closed up when i walked in,took it off the line and said check it out.they are really ,really cool over there...diamond amps dont get a lot of love here for some reason.

Re: the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

diamond amps dont get a lot of love here for some reason.

Probably because they're expensive and hard to find. I'd love to give the Spec-Op a go, but there's no way I could afford one. I would imagine they sound pretty good at any volume, because they appear to be using preamp gain more than power tube saturation.

Re: the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

i dont think they are any more expensive than compareable mesa amps.but that opinion is based on a lack of knowledge in their actual price.the ones i have seen on ebay, are priced like mesas.

Jeff Diamant is a freaking lawyer of all things.i never met him,but his people over there are really nice.

I'm gonna second this. Instead, get a can of DeoxIt clean the jacks and pots - you'll likely be good to go.

Re: the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

you people have created a monster. i played the peavey today.i could not even think of turning the volume past 5..i get the tube thing.the notes articulated one by one into earfulls of joy.picking soft or loud has noticable variences.it all boils together in this bubbling mix of sounds i could feel. i can articulate a note by the way i pick it..wow..how cool is that? i have bought my last solidstate amplifier.
