the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

Re: the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

You did just fine man. Enjoy the new toy. Don't fall into the trap of thinking "It can't be worth anything because I didn't pay (much) for it". There are tons of great underrated pieces of gear out there that you can stumble upon for nothing or next to nothing. My favorite amp at the moment cost me a total of $200 out of a pawn shop. I'm really fussy about tone (more so than my playing to my detriment) and even I think that there are some really amazing finds out there if you have a sharp eye and even sharper ears. Out of all the Peaveys of that vintage, there are probably three I'd consider buying and yours is one of those three. The others are the Peavey Butcher (I LOVE MINE) and also a VTM-60 or 120. I'd really like to get my hands on the VTM-60 in particular...

Few things are as satisfying, to a guitarist, as a tube amp that you really dig. I'm glad you found one you're digging on!

Any chance of getting a recording of it?

actually yes ,i think i could have something ready in a week or 2.

im gonna use this amp as my tube school classroom..i think its a great first tube amp..simple controll layout, single channel,,and built like a tank evidently.....and it was free.

if my solid state amps were a map of my guitar sound, tube amps are the destination.i have arrived. this is what playing guitar should sound like.

yeah, now just think about the different flavours of tube amps... there's so many GOOD amps out there, each with a different way it could fit in with your own style...
It's mind boggling.
after graduating from solid state (a crappy crate, then a fender frontman 25r) I've been walking up the tube amp ladder, first with a cheap 5W combo, then a modeling hybrid amp, then the awesomeness of the Vox Night Train, now i have the Marshall. where will this Marshall take me?

O, and do you like clean tones? If you're at all into a nice, deep, smooth, beautiful clean tone that'll flatter almost any half-way decent guitar, go to a guitar center and try a Fender Twin Reverb. now that's a tube amp. It's like there's another layer of sound behind the one you're hearing.

its cool that my first tube amp is a vintage 120 watt fire breathing slab of rock.365 days from now or less, there will be a diamond amplification phantom head in my house.

Re: the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

i love dark, moody, chorus saturated clean tones,i dont care for bright cleans at all.

Re: the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

that first pic above where,i am holding a tube?the peavey logo is visble,i will try to get some better ones, the problem is ,the printing is done in gray.

They are just rebranded. Peavey never made their own tubes.. Phillips is my guess as well.

Re: the peavey rockmaster works like a champ.

her dad never used the peavey one time.dad never bought a cab for this thing. i dont know why he bought it. i didnt know him then..all he said was he bought a fender twin reverb and never touched the peavey..he is kinda a strange dude.....he dosnt play much.i think mostly he just likes musical things around him. he plays a little.
