The Perfect Bridge Humbucker??

Re: The Perfect Bridge Humbucker??

Whichever one sounds the way I want it to, in whatever guitar it's in, for whatever application it's intended for. Translation: there's no one HB that's perfect.

Re: The Perfect Bridge Humbucker??

depends on what you play. like i would say one pickup is the best for one style and a completely different one for another style. but if your talking most versatile, i would have to say either the '78(EVH) or the '59

Re: The Perfect Bridge Humbucker??

Duncan Custom Shop 78.

Or for more than twice as much moola (but not necessarily any better!): Tom Holmes.

Those two are my two favorite bridge humbuckers of all time.

Hint: get the 78!

I love the JB in my Jackson Soloist.

The much hated 498T sounds great to me in my 98 SG.

I could go on and on, but I'd say there is not perfect pickup because there are many styles of music, many different amps, many different speakers. My rig (DSL100 1/2 stack) and guitars aren't going to do country, or Hendrix or funk. They are tuned for Metal because that's what I like.

Re: The Perfect Bridge Humbucker??

I know the Custom is supposed to be a "PAF on steriods" tone. how does the CC sound as far as the "PAF steriods" tone?

i only got to try one for a short while at guitar center the other day, and it was in a washburn idol(basic les paul style, maple cap, mahogany set neck, all that jazz) i like it. pretty fat, loose low end(in a good way) a little compressed, though not as much as it is described to be. in fact, it's pretty open sounding to my ears. then again, i brought a guitar with a jb2 that day, and it's basically a step up in compression and output, as it's a 44 guage pickup.

anyways, i think it's a cool pickup. it'll match up well in your baretta. since it's highs are a bit rounded, it'll match up well with the toothyness of an all maple guitar.

All 3 customs are a PAF on steroids but, they own flavor of a PAF on steroids.

For the perfect bridge bucker, its a hard call between a jazz bridge or a PATB-3.

well thats good to hear. I have no idea why kramer decided to make the body's of the reissue out of solid maple?!?! :poed: the highs that come out that guitar are like razor blades against a chalk board

well if your still getting too much high end after you install it, you can raise the pickup and lower the screws, or even try an a8. there's also lower pot values. will you be installing a tone pot?
