Re: The Pointy, The Whole Pointy, and nothing but the Pointy

That War Angel is cool. I really dig the sharktail shape.

Thanks. It was a semi-original idea I had. A few of the guys over at the Jackson/Charvel Forum had ordered various Customs that blended elements of the Death Angel - Death Kelly (Kelly body with the lower horn of a Death Angel), Death Warrior (Warrior with the rear tip of a Death Angel), etc - and I came up with the idea of putting Death Angel tips on all 4 points. Cooked one up in the JCF Guitar Generator and sent the pic along with the order form. 18 months later it arrived just as I drew it up. Note it has no volume control :D

A couple of months later, Wild West Guitars had a black one on their site (though with a volume knob). Then one day someone posted a link to Ed Roman's site where he had ripped off the design for his own "brand".
Notice he's not alive these days.

;)

Waht an amazing collection. I sure wish you still had them all! The Playboy guitar is cool. I really like the Warbirdies;

I just got the Dinky neck w/ binding to complete my Flametop. It'll look like this;

Those Warbirds appear to have had an interesting, yet untold "theme" about them.

There were at least 4 variations of pinups - two redheads, a blonde, and the one in the flowered sarong. The one in the sarong was for Pearl Harbor. Each pinup was always in the same pose, which is why it was easy to tell the difference between the 2 redheads and not just assume they were variations of the same figure. I guess brunette was harder to pull off, so they went with 2 redheads instead of one of each.

I wanted to order a CS Warbird some years ago when they were touting the Jenna Jameson endorsement, where the pinup would look more like her, but still be in a classic pinup pose.
The request was shot down faster than a Messerschmidt.

Re: The Pointy, The Whole Pointy, and nothing but the Pointy

On the Red Flames Jackson, I don't think the Chrome Floyd was stock, was it? The ones I have seen all have black Floyds. It could be black , and just the light reflecting off it, and probably is.

Re: The Pointy, The Whole Pointy, and nothing but the Pointy

Nope. Those originally came with chrome and Duncan Designed pickups. They went to black hardware when they swapped to real Duncans. I think the Hot Wheels (Blue and Orange) Flame DK-2 also replaced the Hot Rod Flames, and came with black hardware.

Do you mean this when you mentioned the "Hot Wheels DK2"? Mine's actually red.

Also, this pic goes in the spirit of this thread. If you'll look at the headstock, you'll get my point. ;)

Re: The Pointy, The Whole Pointy, and nothing but the Pointy

That is without a doubt one of the best looking SGs that I have ever seen in my life.

I saw that SG and whispered under my breath, "Mother******...", because that SG looks so good, the damn guitar probably gets more girls than me.

Re: The Pointy, The Whole Pointy, and nothing but the Pointy

Had a few over the years . This one right now is all that's left.
Pinky is a 1990 Carvin X220C.

Once owned all these

Nope. It used to be called Hot Wheels Flames back in the 80s when Jackson was just a Custom Shop, then Mattel threw a hissy and they changed it to Eldred Flames. When Eldred split, and they later brought it to the DK2, they called it Blue and Orange Flames.

Here's mine with a DK2M neck on it:

^^
Very Nice! Like the controls on the V, along with the stoptail.

Re: The Pointy, The Whole Pointy, and nothing but the Pointy

Killer axe, just wish the frets were taller.

Originally the controls were VTT but I kinda sorta gutted it down to Vol and 3-way. It was also originally red, but I got a can of Krylon.....

Shoulda left it alone :(

Still might sand it down, as the body looked very nice au natural. Multi-piece body with what looked like walnut stringers, and a 5 piece neck with maple stringers as well.

Hmmmm, s'posed to be not rainy this weekend, and I got sandy papers....

Here's an Ebay listing in the UK of what mine used to look like.

I laughed like hell when I first saw that scrolling down. I thought "what in the hell is that giant bottom E tuner?". Then I realized it was a piece of folded paper.

It does look like a huge bottom E tuner lol.

I have looked at this whole thread and haven't seen this guitar everyone is talking about. Where is this beast at?
