The screamin demon full review (very single coil like)

Re: The screamin demon full review (very single coil like)

was your trem set to float or to dive only?
I ask because i have all my floyd's resting against the body and the punch is plentiful with the demon in my trem guitars.
The demon has a real nice tyson punch to it

That's good to know! Thanks Ed!

Re: The screamin demon full review (very single coil like)

IF you look at the resistance and resonance peak of the SD and Custom 5, the 10k resistance and 7k resonance of the SD is what you would get if you unwound the C5 that is 14.4k resistance and 5.4k resonance peak. Both have Alnico 5 magnets and assuming they are both 43g. wire. Of course the wind pattern could be different. The hex screws could have some impact on the resonance frequency also. The high 7k resonance peak helps with the "single coilishness" as does the mismatched pole pieces ;)

I've been extolling the virtues of the SD for quite awhile, but I've received a lot of flack...mainly that it is thin/screachy/bodiless/etc. I keep saying that it is one of the best hummers ever, even more than the Pearly Gates.

I'm glad to see that there are some converts now, not just because of what I or anyone else has said, but because of their own experience with the SD. It's my favorite bucker. Other favorites are '59 (A8) (bridge), Pearly Gates (n), Gibson '57 (n), Custom 8 (bridge) in SG NOT LP, and of course........the infamous... P-90.
