The Gibson ES-335!

Just becasue Black Blues players finanlly wrere able to afford an entry level Gibson Semi Hollow, and made that guitar sound famous, the squadrons of no-nothing guitar dorks like you guys chime in harmony like a bunch of Bullfrogs in the Mud with an adulating chorus; "335!"
What they don't know is the 335 is a Plywood guitar, thats right, PLYWOOD!
On top of that, its a cheap glued top.
I really hate to say this, cause I know so much more about Gibsons than you'll ever know, but there are models not that much more expensive that are one solid piece of carved mahogany...in fact, the whole great guitar is one solid piece of wood, and the semi hollow chambers are carved out of that solid block!
I hate to say that cause now some heretofore clueless self important boneheads with money here will now go researching and looking for these guitars that I am trying to find, but ah well, all in the name of progress.
Basically its like people arguing that silverface Fender is a good amp.
No it sin't.

Stop whining. I don't even want a 335. By all of us, you actually mean every single one of us on this forum? I can count on both hands and feet a fraction of the members who don't want a bloody 335.

MY posts!??.. aren't you the guy who wants a Gibson Les Paul to be a semi Hollow??;

I think the way they are chambering the 2012 Les Pauls is perfect. The 2008 chambering basically made it a semi-hollow. I also like how the newer 2012 Les Pauls have a longer tenon, probably...

What is with your posts recently?

If you're referring to me (which you probably aren't) I've been having a really horrible week and I'm deliberately taking statements like the original post personally, because I came here to unwind and get my mind off the bad week only to be told I'm a "dork" who wants a 335.

well duh, any '59 dot neck or otehr vintage 335 is better than any other guitar being made now, Im talking all thisgs being equal,in modern terms why the love for a Plywwood guiatr so much anymore?
Ignorance is what it is. If you only know, and I hate to tell you JUST what a Semi Hollow CAN be ( becasue you don't even know and I have to tell you); carved solid arch top ( not plywood laminate).lso One solid piece of Mahogany, wiht the chambers carved out of that.
In a modern guitar, ya gotta wonder why everyone wnats the 335, and I don't; becasue they don't know any different.
They arent bad guitars, but there are better.

Like I said, I hate to mention this and I sghouldnt, casue if more people become aware of this, I'll have a hard time getting what I want when the time comes, but hey, I'm a democrat, so.

Most overrated guitar ever? I honestly don't see a whole lot of people actually owning them. I don't know why you think "people" love them so much. Sure, you hear enough people singing their praises, but I don't see a whole lot of people actually owning them. If people really did think they were great, I'd expect to see more of them out there. And don't point to their price as an excuse. You can find used ones at a decent price and there are certainly Epi's out there for people that don't want to drop the coin on a Gibson.

As for them being made out of laminate? Who cares? It is pretty evident that you are just trying to get a rise out of people, but if you're going to start threads for no other reason than to be provocative, you can be a little more creative than that. I'm glad that they are made of laminate. Why? Because my ES-335 is the best sounding guitar I own. I don't want it to sound any different. I'm sure that you can make a wonderful semi-hollow out of a carved piece of mahogany or maple, but good luck finding a one-piece back that big. I'm sure, with your discerning tastes, that a two-piece back would just be unacceptable. After all, multiple pieces of wood glued together is getting dangerously close to plywood.

Guilty as charged..I was being provocative. But no, im really amazed people think thr 2335 is the ultimate Semi-hollow, and thats why I figured I'd strat a sensationalist thread aboyut it.
No Sir, yes, the higher grade Gibson Semi Hollow is ONE >>SOLID>>BLOCK>>OF>>MAHOGANY!
And its chambers are carved out of that!
You'll be able to afford one sonmeday now that you know, I probably never will!
