Oh I'm sure I'd love it. This thread has convinced me that I will own one one day.

You should, though you may need a fairly intrusive gate if you run a lot of gain.

Gretsch solid bodies (Chet, Round Up, Duo Jet, Power Jet, etc) are really semi hollow bodies that fit your criteria. So are some Godins, Guilds, Hamers........... Gibson is just a name anymore. Better value elsewhere.

The Gibson ES-335!

Just becasue Black Blues players finanlly wrere able to afford an entry level Gibson Semi Hollow, and made that guitar sound famous, the squadrons of no-nothing guitar dorks like you guys chime in harmony like a bunch of Bullfrogs in the Mud with an adulating chorus; "335!"
What they don't know is the 335 is a Plywood guitar, thats right, PLYWOOD!
On top of that, its a cheap glued top.
I really hate to say this, cause I know so much more about Gibsons than you'll ever know, but there are models not that much more expensive that are one solid piece of carved mahogany...in fact, the whole great guitar is one solid piece of wood, and the semi hollow chambers are carved out of that solid block!
I hate to say that cause now some heretofore clueless self important boneheads with money here will now go researching and looking for these guitars that I am trying to find, but ah well, all in the name of progress.
Basically its like people arguing that silverface Fender is a good amp.
No it sin't.

I like 335's, I think they have a nice sound. I am not fond of the body style when I try playing one but thats just preference.

I dont care if something is plywood or plastic as long as it sounds good.

Bob Taylor of Taylor guitars once made a line of acoustics out of pallet wood.

And anyone who's worked with wood knows there is considerable difference between various grades of plywoods and that plywood has superior qualities to solid woods.

Ha, man, you have a long way to go. For me, all guitars are crap, there's never been one made that was good enough for me. I'm such a golden-eared virtuoso that no luthier has ever produced anything good enough to appease my high standards.

You're gonna need to hate on a lot more than just one model before you are truly a connosieur like myself.

The thing is: I know it. Oh, do I know it. Hell, most of the time, I think it's funny. I'll even say that sometimes, there's a grain of knowledge hiding in there that doesn't get tossed out with the empties. Yet, it still gets under my skin, from time to time. I'm starting to wonder if I'm one of those people that just sits around, waiting to be offended. I hope not.

There are more guitarists, with more fame, more money, more talent, more knowledge, and simply more accomplished than you out there that will disagree.

You can tell yourself you are right all you want. Over 50 years of history and success does not bode well for your opinion, however.

Next, why don't you educate us on why The Beatles sucked? I can't wait to hear that thesis.
