says here he uses SPB-3 quarter-pound for p-bass®
I do not agree!Davey said:quarter pounder since forever i believe.
but fundamental to his sig sound is the badass2 bridge and the all maple neck. they give more thump to his sound
then the amps, marshall cabs
and spandex!
With the pickup ... I am not sure, but he has used spb-1 a lot ... Quarter Pound is the pickup of the signature bass.Davey said:with what? the spandex?
Read here...Davey said:listen to his sound. is it a vintage pickup or a quarter pounder?
besides, he has stated in many a interview that he uses the quarter pounder, he is listed under the artist in the products page under the QP...
not saying he never used the vintage one, but his main sound is the QP. the signature bass is a total replica of his own P-bass. (the maiden boys were quite involved in the making of their signature guitars and i'm sure he wouldnt miss that quite significant detail)
besides, many people have had a custom shop pickup made and used it, but it is not their main pickup. take slash for example. he has a CS A2P pickup, but uses off the shelf A2P's
I use Rotosound flatwound strings 050-110;Davey said:#1 what amp do you use
#2 what are the settings on your amp
#3 do you use flatwound strings
#4 what cab do you have
you wont get such a strong bass sound out of a solid state combo. he's used ampeg and marshall amps, with a strong mid and trebble and has a distinct, STRONG finger style.
his sound has always been about loud.
but, even if you have all that, it's only wood, plastic, metal and wires (with some glass thrown in) a lot of it is in the fingers and the style
