The strangest guitar shipping box I've seen

Re: The strangest guitar shipping box I've seen

People this stupid shouldn’t have computers. Or guitars.

This has been Jessie’s misanthropic post for the day.

Re: The strangest guitar shipping box I've seen

I think the guitar probably was safer in a hardcase than it would've been in a gigbag in a cardboard box, even with padding. The trick with shipping in a box is big stickers that say DO NOT LAY FLAT and THIS END UP. Not that those are necessarily any guarantee against shipping barbarians.

I got a kick out of this one, labeled for airline travel:

I recently bought a guitar via Reverb. It's coming from Missouri to Australia.

Your story fills me with confidence. Thanks.

BTW, for anyone that is like "I don't have a box" GC (or your local store) is happy to give boxes away for free from their stock. I know it doesn't apply since you are the recipient, but someone may not know that (obviously your seller  )

Re: The strangest guitar shipping box I've seen

I have a question about the lock: what did he do? Send you the code via email when he shipped the guitar?

It's kinda funny (to me) to imagine you receiving an email something like: "Guitar is shipped, tracking number is #xxxxx and the lock combination is 12345"... :D

I had to ask seller for the code, because he never mentioned the padlock to me.

Imagine how I felt when I got the case in the mail...and couldn't open it up to see if everything was all right.

To the Goo Gone comment, luckily all the shipping labels came easily off the case.

I'm just letting this one go and making a note to myself not to ever buy again from a seller with only 6 ratings, no matter the price or ratings. There are enough reputable shops and sellers on Reverb and eBay now that I needn't ever roll the dice like that again.

Re: The strangest guitar shipping box I've seen

Guitar arrived in one piece, no issues. Except that the courier dropped the package by my door. First thought was "Jesus Christ", second thought was "I shouldn't be able to hear the strings vibrate from inside the box, should I?"

Before you ask, yes it had a lid, but this is how it looked inside when I took the lid off.

From Missouri to Australia, folks.

Man, I put my sandwiches in my lunch box better than that.
Lucky you didn't have the mustard squished out of that.

Good thing it's a sturdy guitar! Check out the dent the headstock made in the little piece of styrofoam at the end...

I got a Strat like that once but at least dude wrapped some duct taped around it along with the labels....

Re: The strangest guitar shipping box I've seen

This is common practice for guitars that come without a hard case. My RG550 was shipped from Japan across the Pacific in a cardboard box and it was fine.
