I agree that you should really get the neck finished. Most guitars with unfinished maple necks use double expanding truss rods and some type of stabilizer to avoid warping, such as Peavey's graphite reinforcement rods. Warmoth claims that about 10% of maple necks that are not finished will end up warping. Or, consider a wood that requires no finish. My Strat has a goncalo neck with an ebony board...it has the feel of unfinished maple, but neither wood requires a finish.
