The tale of two Teles...

There are two telecasters I've been looking at. The Nashville and the Baja. I love the neck on the Baja and enjoy the series mode between the two pickups. The Nashville plays fine but I prefer the neck of the Baja. The reason I'm considering the Nashville because the swimming pool route which is appealing for someone who enjoys modding his guitar for absolutely no good reason like me. What's a guy to do here?

What’s a guy to do? Get the one that makes you stop thinking and start making music.

A test I often do is see which one inspires a new song.

Put a middle single in the Baja, then put a blower switch that bypasses the also modded 5-way pickup selector and automatically switches to neck and bridge in series.

Go with the neck you like, if you don't like the neck you'll never like the guitar.

Hard to argue against the Baja.

Didn't Fender just have an FSR with a matching headstock Baja?

Buy both and swap the necks over, sell the other one if you don't want it

I vote for the Baja + router. Good necks are hard to find.

Quick question. Baja neck has a gloss finish on the neck. Can that be sanded off?

G&L offers a lot of neck profiles and finishes.

Everything but a compound radius. They use plek and the finest fret wire too.

Personally I love a 12” radius fretboard and the shaved heel is badass. Don’t underestimate the Deluxe Nashville or Deluxe Thinline... these are a Les Paul lovers intro to Fender.

My Baja is a ridiculously good guitar- out- performs my MIA Fenders and Gibsons. I've owned other MIMs that were duds.

middle pickups just get in the way (imo).
But if you want a pool route, check out a post 2012 american standard. You can get em cheap since the new professional series came out but they make excellent giggable workhorses.
I understand that the bajas had the same pickups as these 2012 and later standards (the fender broadcaster and the twisted neck).

post 2012 serial number...it will start with US12etc
also, the no load tone pot
and the big giveaway...a belly cut
