The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

Hoss

Joyfulnoiseologist
it came in the mail yesterday and i brought it to the church last night and went in early this morning to get a bit familiar with it and find a usable tone as quickly as possible before everyone else showed up to practice.

i found it in about 15 seconds...lol!!! this amp sounds so huge i can't believe it!!! it's a totally different feeling than the Blues Jr. i don't know how well this amp will really crunch in a band setting yet, but the cleans are soooo thick and rich and tasty!!! it booms and with a pinch of delay from my tsunami and a tad of flavor from my Ac-tone...it sparkled and just...i don't know...kinda "bloomed"...it was awesome!!! i think the ext cab really compliments it well and just makes the sound that much thicker...so far sooo good!!! i'm thrilled!

NEW STUFF ROCKS!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

that's the one with the mods i guess? cool, congratulations. looking forward to hearing what a modded traynor sounds like.

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

I'm glad it is working out for you, Hoss. Give us a full rundown after the honeymoon.

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

Traynor does make great amps... glad it works for you Hoss... enjoy it!

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

I have three old tube Traynor amp heads- a YGL-3a, A Bassmaster-1a mkII and YSR-1a. All three are early 70's amps. You have an amp with a proud heritage.

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

can't wait to spend some quality time with this amp again and really open it up! i still can't get over how great it sounded sunday morning! so far it is just what the doctor ordered in the clean headroom dept!

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

Far cry from the Traynor I'll be getting soon:

But both are KILLER amps!

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

get a peavey!!!
:earl:

Haha actually nothing against Peavey, I have had some great Peavey gear. In fact I use two 15" Peavey monitors with the black widow speakers in them; they're great.

But I do think the Traynor YCV40 is WAY better than the Peavey Classics.

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

lol...he's being sarcastic...he has a peavey half-stack that i sold him...lol!

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

Cool deal. It seems like the most appropriate amp for you. You got the wine red version right?

I haven't heard one in a long time. How's the lead channel on it?

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

Very nice Mikey Mike !!!

Now keep an eye out for a 12H30....paired with the V30, it'll be even sweeter :bigthumb:

Are both cabs open or just the combo?

Does the combo sit perfectly on the ext. or do you have them spread out?

Re: The traynor sounds freaking awesome!!!

yeah...i got the wine red one joe (40 watt version)...i haven't had a chance to really open it up yet on the lead channel...i plan on doing that this saturday...

i don't think i'm leaving it at church next week...i gotta bring it home to play with it for sure...it's just that i don't have a pedal board yet and i HATE breaking everything down and setting it back up and yada-yada! lol! but if i don't get some quality "alone" time with it this weekend, then i'm gonna have to!

the 1x12 is a closed back cab and it's not as wide as the combo...it's deeper but not wider, so they sit side by side.

it really is just what the doctor ordered for me right now...it has all the headroom i want and like i said, the clean sound just blooms with rich 6L6 goodness! regardless of the amps own distortion (which i've yet to test out), i know i can get the overdrive tones i want with my Carl Martin pedal and i'm also going to try out the tsunami in the efx loop, although i can't imagine it sounding better than it did in front of the amp?!

i know the OD isn't going to be the same as EL84 OD, but that might not be a bad thing...we'll have to see!?
