The ULTIMATE SDUG Les Paul COPY preliminaries

Re: The ULTIMATE SDUG Les Paul COPY preliminaries

Exact Les Paul Shaped body, or ONLY a single Variation (sloped shoulder, but correct horn, sharp horn, but correct shoulder, etc...)
24 3/4 scale
Mahogany/Maple or All Mahogany Body.
Three per side headstock.
Humbuckers ONLY
No specification on # and type of controls, or Bridge.
While still unsure about the HH-only part I am down with that so here she is!

Michael Kelly Patriot Limited.
Two-piece Mahogany body (seam on the center), carved Maple top with a Flamed Spalted Maple veneer on top.
One-piece Mahogany neck, Ebonly fretboard and a matching 3+3 headstock.
5-ply IIRC binding on the front of the body and the headstock, single-ply on the fretboard.

For now the zebra pickups are the stock Rockfield SWCs which are pretty darn decent if I might say so. However I am seeing sth a little hotter on the bridge in the future :D

Re: The ULTIMATE SDUG Les Paul COPY preliminaries

Always thought of this as a LP copy but alas I guess not as it features a 25.5" scale:

Re: The ULTIMATE SDUG Les Paul COPY preliminaries

I'm going to put my Jackson Kelly on here.

Re: The ULTIMATE SDUG Les Paul COPY preliminaries

I humbly submit my Parker PM 20 pro. Its on the borderline I suspect, as the shape is Les-Paul 'like', not a real copy.

Re: The ULTIMATE SDUG Les Paul COPY preliminaries

Humbucker size pickup, right?

1990, maybe 1980, Burny LP Custom. The bridge pickup is a Phat Staple (forum run).

The next person who says this is a clownburst answers to me. Or I photoshop it.

1983 Burny plaintop. According to MLP a RLG-120, whatever that is.

Re: The ULTIMATE SDUG Les Paul COPY preliminaries

Sorry....HB's OR P-90's. Don't know what I was thinking!!!!

I am unsure about that Patriot....Weird Shoulder, pointy/stubby horn, string through...REALLY pushing it. I'm letting it ride for now. But it will get bumped by more classic copies.

That lefted handed Parker abomination? NO WAY!!!!! That's not a horn, it's a STUMP!

Re: The ULTIMATE SDUG Les Paul COPY preliminaries

What is that sexy Black and Gold beast Uopt?

AND TELL US WHAT THEY FRICKIN ARE EVERYONE - NO MYSTERY AXES!!!!!! HEADSTOCK that is legible, or name it!!!!

What's a clownburst supposed to be?

HEY, what about mini-hums?

As for the Patriot's lines, if you look again you'll see that it's supposed to be one continuous line, forming an S actually. Easier to tell when looking at the back.

As for the stringthrough, there's also a stoptail version but didn't you say any control layout and/or bridge? It's not as if it's a Floyd or sth (I wish! Hey, wouldn't Slash's axes qualify?)

You say "clownburst" when you think that a cherry sunburst (red out, yellow inside) has a too sharp transition between red and yellow.

I should probably photograph that one in better light...

Re: The ULTIMATE SDUG Les Paul COPY preliminaries

Well, Slash should enter his LP copy then. That would be pretty bad@$$...What if he lost
?
Well, his axes have Floyds but also Gibson on the headstock so, tough luck :9:

Well, I don't see TOO sharp a transition so that's fine :).

I"ll submit my LP copy for the heck of it. Samick Greg Bennet Avion, I think. This is about as "LP Copy" as it gets. 150 piece mahogany body, 2 piece mohogany neck, LP scale, fake veneer top that I've had to re-glue 3 times. Body shape not the same as a LP, but lamely close.

The good: I love this guitar. It was my first one I bought. Mods: pro fret job, grover 18:1 locking tuners, staplocks, black hardware, SD Custom/59n with Page wiring. Havn't changed the strings in forever, they're almost rusty lol. This is the guitar I pick up when I"m first trying to learn a song, or just randomly jam. Its so versatile.

Sorry for the 2 megapixel cell phone pics

So give it props for being loaded with Duncans, and Page wiring (that worked right the first time lol). Cheers

Closest I will get to a Great Les Paul. Made in Pennsylvania by Eric Schulte in Malvern. I've had it since 1999 IIRC. Eric told me it was possibly an early '90s. His records were not in front of him and at 76 when I talked to him on the phone about 8 years ago I didn't push for much more.

Duncan loaded with a '59N and JBB in it. Very much a sweetie.
