Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

I know you're a Dimebag Darrell fan, and also have a creative imagination when it comes to medievel torture that goes far beyong the realm of good taste. hehehe

If you could go back to the Alrosa Villa club and be where Niggemeyer was when he shot Nathan Gale, but instead subdue him, taking him into custody....

Now...you're face to face with a handcuffed Gale in a concrete room. And he just took Dime away.

What does this guy have in store for him?

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

Hey Zerb, nice to see you again.

... and yeah, how do you like that JB in the neck bidness. You ever tried a Lil' JB in the neck - say for a Jackson Soloist?

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

It was only a matter of time untill the great Zerb got asked to host the well. Glad to see you back.

If you could have one super power what would you choose?

Who is your favorite super hero or super villian?

Favorite video game?

pros and cons of maple bodies for electric guitars?

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

Got the two standard questions for the Well:

Can you name us one single band or artist that you feel should be obligatory listening for us kiddies?

Can you elaborate on an experience you've had in your life, that you feel others could learn from as well?

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

Zerb please tell us exactly why Jackson Soloist's are one of the greatest guitars made. :headbang::beerchug:

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

Zerb, we demand answers.

I bet he's stackin up the whole week and gonna reply to all of us in one post. Probably with a single answer. Which will consist of one single word. lol

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

What are your two most embarrasing moments?
Hmmm... I´d say anytime my mother talked about me to complete strangers while we were anywhere, and another that doesn´t fit the context of a non-secks forum

What is the most un-Zerb-like guitar you've owned?
That would have to be my old Yamaha RGX721

What is your favourite main course?
Lasagne

What is your favourite desert?
Just about anything containing Chocolate or a Woman, extra points for combing the two

Are you confident?
As a general rule yes

What do you do to ward off loneliness?
Loneliness? Is that a word in the English language?

As you're a luthier, what's your take on fretless guitars?
Play 'em if ya got 'em

...the 'not dead' former GF
Still not dead, but I have better things to do that worry about what could ahve been :beerchug:

... the incident where you were "batman on the train platform", but got rung up by the cops for not helping...
Panned out just fine after about 2 weeks, excellent Lawyer FTW

and how it may or may not have shaped how you're doin in general?
What doesn´t kill me pushes me up one step higher, quite a few dieties are getting scared it appears :firedevil:

Ever eat a meal consisting solely of condiments and a beverage?
No

Hey Zerb - have any pets?
Flies and Cockroaches

Wenn ist das Nunstück git und Slotermeyer?
*Mr. T accent* Whatchu talkin ´bout, Fool?

How well do you speak German, and how much do you like Germany?
Probably better than most here speak english, and Germany would be great if it weren´t for the germans :laugh2:

or was it the0die...
No, Dave only blows Chunks and Kramer Players :chairfall

Could you describe the guitar that you believe is your best work to date?
To be honest, I´m hard pressed to choose one, as they all were very special in their individual ways, both from a crraftsman´s standpoint and fron a tonal and aesthetic perspective... I am however particularly fond of almost anything I´ve turned from a rusty anvil into a surgical tool...

How abt a pic of u and ur rig hehe... Do you have lot of Jacksons in them?
I still have more Jacksons than Wacko´s family, and less plastic surgery per capita as well :laugh2:

How you doing bro?
Generally speaking better than I have in 2 or 3 years ;)

Ever built an Explorer?
What was the first guitar you built? Specs!?
Yes and no, my first ever buid was a slightly downsized explorer with the lower horn of an Iceman. Hard ash body, 22 fret bolt on Maple /Pau Ferro neck, 2 humbuckers I wound Myself in the Electronics shop of the Technical high school it was a project for, hand machined brass string thru bridge (think strat), clear nitro over black stain. The neck pocket made Frankie look like fine engineering, but it sustained like no Guitar I´ve ever since owned. It was on display 7 or 8 years ago as part of an exhibition of the "finals projects", and was stolen during this period. I got about 300 bucks for it, which was ok for the materials but really sucked for what it meant to me.

Remember the dude you punched over the tossed out bad sammich? Would you rather punch him for that or Scott Stapp for being an ass?
I´ll decide on this one when Scott sucker punches me, gotta have a level playing field ;)

What are your musical and videogame guilty pleasures?
Madonna, World of Warcraft

As I asked a couple of years back... is there really a card for Satanists? :P
These people can tell you, I will not touch religion on this forum any closer than that ;)

Bang for the buck with integrity... what brand would you reccomend?
Guitars? Cars? Soap?

What do you use to keep your hair silky and tangle free :laugh2: I imagine the fires of Hell or a ***** on it, so how do you prevent it from going Afro? :P
Infusium ;)

Single most dumb gimmick in the whole guitar world?
Neon lights in amplifiers and racks
...

...
#1 Favorite Scorpions song?
Hmm, I´d have to go with Wind of Change due to the time it came out and what was happening everywhere all around me at that time.

#2 How do you feel about Schnitzel?
Great buddy, cool bassist,.... Oh you mean Pork chops... Great as well :D

#3 If you could have only one guitar - describe in detail
Phoenix.jpg

#4 If you could be a flower...what type?
Black Rose

#5 Pro's & cons of ebony boards
Smooth as silk, deep tone with a nice snappy attack but not as brittle as maple. Needs somewhat more care than most other woods to prevent cracking and the dust from sanding really screws with your lungs if youre young and stupid

#6 JB in the neck - Inspire us to do that
Buy my albums and I´ll tell you which tracks to listen to for the smooth banshees :deal:

#7 Women with plastic man parts attached - ever gone there?
Fortunately, my maps contain no record of such a place.

#8 If you were able to have dinner for an hour with one person before the end of the world (and just eat the food and talk) who would it be and why?
The Dalai Lama, because one hour before the end of the world it would be cool to see what one of the most important religious figureheads really thinks.

Why and/or how in the hell did you end up in Germany?
Father was in the US Military, then worked as a civilian in Switzerland. They went back, stupid me thought I could get ahead better over here.

Have you found a 'perfect' 7 yet? I remember you searching for one and having complaints with a lot of them previously.
No, I haven´t. My main complaint with most production 7s is the scale length. but so far the Prestige end of the Ibanez XL series has gotten me by.

What's the current status of Infinite Ending? I seem to remember you having issues with the then-drummer of the project a bit ago.
There aren´t any "issues" per se anymore, but we´re moving forward with a speed just under that of continental drift.

Will I run into you at Wacken 2008? Carcass + ATG reunion should be irresistible to even Zerb himself...
While it´more likely to get run over by me, it just might happen ;)

What did you do with Lili von Shtupp?
Who?

Better yet, whatever happened to the Von Trapps?
Who?

Do you see being able to re-establish your own shop in the near future
Not on a mentionable scale. but I do play the lottery every so often ;)

or are you thinking of taking a slightly different direction than the 'for hire' type operation?
I´m honestly not sure of how exactly my career will continue, but I am fairly certain that a refresher at Bryan Galloup´s school will be a part of it.

What does this guy have in store for him?
*CENSORED*

... and yeah, how do you like that JB in the neck bidness. You ever tried a Lil' JB in the neck - say for a Jackson Soloist?
Unfortunately no, but it's high on my to do list ;)

If you could have one super power what would you choose?
Omniscience always sounded good to me....

Who is your favorite super hero or super villian?
Plastic Man is the Ladie´s Choice :naughty:

Favorite video game?
World of Warcraft

pros and cons of maple bodies for electric guitars?
bright and snappy, generally on the heavier side.

Do you love me?
There is one person that I hate less than the other 6 billion, and it´s not you :beerchug:

Can you name us one single band or artist that you feel should be obligatory listening for us kiddies?
Pantera

Can you elaborate on an experience you've had in your life, that you feel others could learn from as well?
Always check that everything is turned on before you start repairing things, and always wear a hard hat at a construction site.

Ever owned a python or boa, and got to feed it mice or rats?
No

Zerb please tell us exactly why Jackson Soloist's are one of the greatest guitars made. :headbang::beerchug:
Because I say so.:D:firedevil:

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

Hey Zerb! How you doing?

I need some help. Just sold an acoustic guitar to a guy in Germany and I don't know what method to use to ship it or how much to charge the guy. Any ideas?

What's it been costing you to get guitars from the US?

Thanks!

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

Most importantly:

Why have you not done your 'Zerb Comes Home' Tour of the US yet? Which would indicate why you have yet to crash at my pad. No pointy's here, but you're welcome to piss off my neighbors with whatever gear is lying around.

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

Pics or drawings of said first explorer type guitar? Sounds like a cool guit.

What do you think of the whole "my pedal/amp/genital piercing/whatever needs a blue led"?

Where did my favourite pick go?

What would you rather play, one of those new fangled Gibson Robot guitars with the previous computer stuff thrown in and a Fernandez Sustainer and (insert all sorts of shiznit) or that awesome Eko. No, that wasn't really a question, just representing some Eko lovin.

Favourite cult actor? (think Samuel L. Jackson-style)

Favourite piece/person/phrase of pop-culture?

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

BTW, I meant guitar brand.

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

What would you say to this? As it is?

gibson_es225_1957x4_002.jpg

What would you change about it if you built it? What do you think of the single middle p90?

Ever built an acoustic or hollow?

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

Fhugeddabout those other questions...

How's that BC Rich coming along?!?

Re: The Well Episode 12, The Luthier Strikes Back

I really liked the marathon answer style - nice zerb!
