That's right, I was chosen for this very special honor by a rather idsnowdog kind of guy.

Feel free to ask anything. I may have my reasons for not answering, but for the most part, I'm an open book.

Shalom!

I'm going to marrying a brunette this year. So we'll say brunettes.

Favorite book?! Um...Red Sky at Morning, Hawaii, Be Hur, The Novel, Ordinary People, Bible, The Outsiders, The Godfather series.

I've owned and read more books by James Michener than anyone else I think. Hawaii, Caribbean, The Novel, Texas, Legacy. I've still got The Drifters, The Source, Iberia, Poland, Space, plus a few others I can't remember. What can I say? I like historical fiction.

That's my wife's favorite genre, as well. Her faves are John Jakes & Ken Follett. I'm gonna let her know about Michener.

Ken Follett is hit and miss for me. I TOTALLY DUG the book "The Hammer of Eden", but his spy stuff gets old for me. I'm going to let my soon-to-be wife know about John Jakes. She's the one that got me into Ken Follett.

In the theaters? I think it was that Shopaholic one. I been a jerk to my fiancee or something, and I owed it to her. What did I think about it? Whatever, I've seen worse chick flicks. It made my girl happy, and that's what matters.

At home, I think it was Scarface or something. And I love Scarface.

What did you do that caused Brenneaux's BP to rise?

I haven't played a prank that would do that to him in at least three months!

What's your dream guitar setup?

Dream guitar setup? My Stratocasters that I have now. Old Fender amps (Blackface or older), a Gibson ES175 (Or similar) with P-90's. Throw in some various effects, and maybe a Telecaster for good measure.

I understand that once you were not christian, and that you have recently become one. Or you've found your faith, found god, i don't know what phrase is best, but you know what i mean.

How did this come about? Can you describe how it was to go from a non-believer (with all the logic/science based assertions denying god's existence that that may entail) to being someone who seems so devout (with whatever belief mechanisms that entails)? What would you say to a person who is strictly atheist?

I'm not looking for a religious discussion on this, just like to know your views and leave it at that.

Excellent question Mattt. I'll have to get back to it later tonight when I've got some more time.

Chopstherocker is an interesting one. Chops was a nickname I had back in high school when I was playing in the jazz band. It came partially because I was a bass player, and partially because of my long sideburns. A buddy of mine at the time was getting into guitar. And we used to jam on various instruments at his parent's house. They had known me for a few years and they called me "The Rocker" in spanish because of my punk rock thing that I had going at the time. It made for a unique user name and because I have yet to see anybody else have it. So it stuck.

JHR is quite possibly drawing to a close later this year. I'm getting married, the drummer is going to be going to recording school in LA, and the music scene around here has just about dried up. It's hard to get gigs that aren't pay-to-play, and musically, I think I'm ready to go in a different direction. My soon-to-be wife and I are tossing around the idea of moving out of state in a few years and I'm feeling the tug on my heart telling me that this time in my life is about to end.

We have plans to make one more CD, because I've got one more JHR CD in me. Record a lot of our covers in a live setting, and get a pay-to-play gig at a cool club we've played at before as our farewell show. The details and official decisions haven't been discussed yet as a band together, so this could all change of course.

Of course I love the old R&B classics of Stax Records and the like. For modern stuff, I really like tobyMac and Brandon Heath. I like rap and hip-hop in a rock band setting. Like Rancid, when Tim Armstrong does his rapping thing, I dig that a lot, and have incorporated it a little bit into my own sound. Just straight rap or hip-hop isn't really my thing though. Too over produced for my tastes.

How are the cooking skills coming along these days?
