King Midas to Cheap Guitars
Re: The Well LXXXXI: Fall to your knees... and bow to the refinishing lord.
Dimebag. Wasn't really that much of a fan of Damageplan, but I did like Pantera quite a bit back in High School, and met them my junior year. I did have Last In Line on tape when I was in grade school (bought it in 6th or 7th grade), but just didn't care for it. (I think the album cover made it look heavier than it would be.
) I always thought of Ozzy as Black Sabbath's singer. Face it, Dio sang on two studio albums, and was a member for about 3 or 4 years. Ozzy was with them for 10 years, and sang on their best albums.
When I was 5, my parents gave me their record player and record collection, I spent the most time listening to Aerosmith (Get Your Wings), Alice Cooper (Welcome To My Nightmare), and Black Sabbath (Paranoid and Master Of Reality). Also had a 45 of Queen's Another One Bites The Dust/Don't Try Suicide that I listened to constantly. In any case, I had a lot more exposure to Ozzy-era Sabbath, and still prefer it. I will say that Dio was their second best singer, and I still have plenty of respect for him.
Also, we knew Dio was sick, and it could happen. Dimebag was murdered in his prime. I think that we were more prepared for Dio to go. When I read the news article about Dimebag's murder online, I was in shock for the rest of the day.
Won't name any names, but I'd pick the open-minded ones and my fellow refinishers.
Way too many to list.
I like most of the US and German speed metal bands from the 80s, well produced symphonic black metal, and death metal where you can make out at least 75% of the lyrics on the second listen.

Who's death affected you more? Dimebag or Dio?
