I wouldn't know a valuable guitar if it hit me in the face and then only if you told me what it was. But I see value in quirky guitars. Like the Tom DeLonge Fender, or the chameleon Epi LP Studio with the flip flop paint job. So intrinsic value is subjective to me, I wouldn't (and couldn't) pay more than a few hundred dollars for something that was going to be played hard and possibly seriously damaged at some point as that would only deepen the depression over losing my $1500 Fender American Strat to an accident. Or a thief.
