Things you´d like to see, but they either can't be or haven´t been done....

Title says it all, what do you think the guitar world needs, but nobody is making or has ever even tried (successfully)?

For me, it´s a 24 fret acoustic with a locking trem. Unfortunately both the 24 frets and the trem pose big engineering issues on an acoustic, and together it really gets on the hairy side of the stability requirements, but I still think it might be possible... would likely require a major rethinking of the way an acoustic is built ...

Impossibe, I know, but I'd like a double-neck guitar that's half true acoustic and half true electric.

OMG!!! How does it sound? I'm a little dubious about the thin acoustic body.

More hard tail Strat options.

What can I say, I'm simple.

i don't think i've ever seen a neck-through 335-type. that'd be a pretty cool guitar. hey zerb, if the body's neck-through section is thick enough, you think you could stick a locking trem on there? i bet that'd get you closer to what you're lookin' for:naughty:

^^ not common but has been done before.... doesn´t help me in my particular quest though because I want a fullsize acoustic and not a semihollow..

But I´m not necessarily looking for ideas on that just wondering what everony else dearly misses ;)

A quality new gibson. Jk.

I would like to see a PRS SE model with 2 necks, one with 12 strings.

Not sure how you mean this. Do you mean more different variations on the hardtail strat that are currently available or rather different, currently unknown bridge styles? :scratchch

ah. well in that case, i want to see that guitar i just described but as the schecter e/a c-1(with the les paul style switch placement) with a wilkinson trem, graphite nut, 'n' locking tuners:)

Re: Things you´d like to see, but they either can't be or haven´t been done....

I thought 24 frets on an acoustic was more a problem of reaching them or extending the neck joint to a point where it would be pretty hard on the top.

I've seen some 24 freters but they all joined at the 14th fret and had a huge cutaway. I'll post a pic if I find it.

I'd like to see a Portuguese Guitar. In electric fashion. lol

Yup, that is essentially the main issue. Now think how heavy the load for the top becomes when you add the Trem countersprings, essentially doubling the force tring to pull the bridge towards the neck (assuming that we apply current trem geometry to this application by using longer, softer springs and anchoring them to the neck block).... Wouldn´t be a huge problem if you didn´t have to reposition most of the braces and redesign the top to get the floyd in in the first place ... but some day I´ll figure out a way :laugh2:

I mean, I do have a playable 22 fret acoustic, but the body is significantly downsized, and I´d like to get more into the realm of a Dreadnaught /Hummingbird size but have the expressive tool of the Floyd onboard to boot...

Have never been a fan of double neck guitar, but I would consider one if I could get 2 necks, one setup for slide & one set up for standard. I know it has probably been done, but not like Jr. Brown's Tele. Thats cool & all but I play more bottleneck style than lap steel. Most doubles I have seen are 6 & 12. I need 2 6 one i can setup normally & the other for either open D or open G....... hey maybe 3 necks!!!

A guitar with a built in Vacu-jack. This way, I can get some action/make chowder while I am playing the guitar,

let's do it!!! i've always wanted a reason to do a double neck. how about a strat with the top headstock in the regular direction and the bottom one reverse so they meet in the middle...or the other way so they both point outwards? either way i'm in if you want to do it, it would be fun to do.

Re: Things you´d like to see, but they either can't be or haven´t been done....

how about a double neck with one neck a strat scale, 3 single coil pickups, and a trem bridge , and the other neck a les paul scale with two humbuckers and a TOM and stop tail ... bonus points if there is a suitable joining technique to make the LP half of the body mahogany with a maple cap and for the strat side body, just alder

Have a look at the one Vai has on his homepage - http://www.vai.com/home.html - Something like that?

Guild also has done them...Slash has 2 of them (the Guild) and they did do a limited run of them, they're called The Croassroads. I played one and really dig it to be honest. Not for everybody and not perfect but a great tool for live playing.

I could only see it being of ultimate use live. Very cool!
