Thinking About Doing The Ol' Switcheroo

So I was thinking about switching out the electronics between these two guitars:

What color schemes would you go with? The white pickguard (which will go on the neck thru) has strabro90's, which won't take covers. So they have to stay black. I'm open to switching out the covers on the HH pickguard for nickel should I need to.

Re: Thinking About Doing The Ol' Switcheroo

Huh? The ol' switcheroo is where you're gettin' funky and you tap out to someone else.

Re: Thinking About Doing The Ol' Switcheroo

I did this quick visual aid to help with the decision

I think the white pg looks better on the natural beast. The black pg isn't working with that white body quite as nice

Oh ****, the 62 RI looks *****IN. Thanks Raph, I appreciate it.

Still not sure what I want to do with the neck thru. A black pickguard would work but I want something a little cooler.

Re: Thinking About Doing The Ol' Switcheroo

In that case, I'd need a black mini toggle to tap the StraBro90's. Can you tap three pickups with a DPDT switch without causing noise issues? I can't find a black 3PDT anywhere.

What about Gold Anodized on the neck through?

Re: Thinking About Doing The Ol' Switcheroo

can you even put dual buckers in the '62RI? Mine was routed old school SSS from the factory.

Also, I agree with tortoiseshell on the neck through.

Re: Thinking About Doing The Ol' Switcheroo

I routed the 62RI a while back for dual humbuckers. Twas fun but I wanted a more stratty tone. I feel like the StraBro90s will fit better in the neck through though.

I hadn't considered anondized gold, mostly because it has black hardware. I think tortoiseshell is probably the way to go though.

Re: Thinking About Doing The Ol' Switcheroo

This is what I'd do: Black guard and electronics from natural finish guitar onto white guitar with chrome covers, knobs, switches, screws, etc. The whole wiring from the white one into a new black guard on the natural finished one. Gibson style b/w/b/w/b would be a nice choice, and use all black screws on the guard. A white guard would just not look nearly as good on that guitar IMO.

One tap switch per pickup.

EDIT - AVRI '62 should have "spaghetti" script decal. Gold with black edge began mid '64.

Re: Thinking About Doing The Ol' Switcheroo

It's a MIJ 62 RI.

I'm just going to get an S-1 switch to tap the pickups. That's the only way to avoid using chrome parts without getting 3 switches, which I definitely don't want to do.
