Thinking about selling my PRS Cu24...

Re: Thinking about selling my PRS Cu24...

I'm just not a PRS guy. Nothing wrong with the company, or their products... just not my thing.

However, I'm not into selling or trading my stuff either. If I believe it to he a quality instrument, I'd keep it & keep looking for the guitar that inspires me. You don't like having guitars laying around that you don't use. I'm not that way.

If I were ypu, I'd sell it or trade it for "your" #1.

Re: Thinking about selling my PRS Cu24...

Great post... I'll check one out. How's the upper fret access?

Its noticably better than a les paul or telecaster for sure. But its not like a sg or 335 or whatever with a double cutaway.

Tastes...

:)

I love my 2004 McCarty, double cut... I also love my R7. In fact, I would have a very hard time selecting if it were to come to a choice between the two. Have used both of them on stage and all...

Nevetheless, I did not like PRS' single cuts... not my thing... And the weird thing was that actually I was expecting to be blown away and all... loving my McCarty... but somehow that just did not happen.

Re: Thinking about selling my PRS Cu24...

I played B2D's CU24 at the Amp Show (unplugged) and it was setup great. The red flametop looked great too. I'm torn, because it's a good guitar, but I also know there's a million good guitars out there as well.

Nowadays, it's so hard to get your money back out of gear, especially when it's not the hippest newest thing everyone's clamoring for.

Since the guitar was gotten in a trade deal for a Custom Audio Electronic amp head, you kind of want to get that same level of money or gear for the PRS. Personally, I'd probably keep the PRS because it's a nice one. If you get rid of it, try and trade it again. Definitely remove the Duncans!

Re: Thinking about selling my PRS Cu24...

Dude, you're as bad as Butch Snyder....lol. I don't think you two are ever satisfied with anything. I'm not sure if that's a great thing, or a curse.

Re: Thinking about selling my PRS Cu24...

Should I follow my instincts and sell it and invest in something else, or should I take a second to recalculate?

I'd say follow your instincts. I was the same way with my Jackson. It was an SL2H, Mahogany, natural, great neck, everything I always wanted. For some reason I never bonded with that guitar. Maybe it was the floyd, maybe it was something else, who knows. I kept telling myself, I should love this guitar. I liked it, but didn't miss it when I didn't play it and when I picked it up again after not playing it I was like eh..... I sold it and don't regret it.

My PRS CU24 experience is the exact opposite of yours. I will never sell it. Just like I'll never sell my Monaco Elite. Some guitars you just bond with and that's it. There's no real rhyme or reason. So again, I'd say follow your instincts and get something you love to play.

Butch2D Snyder syndrome!
:D
Ah well....basicly I have guitars I do not love much, but it is ok as long as they do not bore me!
I sold my Beck out of boredom, kept the Tele that bugs me to no end(but it does not bore me ever, and it is not smooth, perfect, bla bla and away with the describing useless words :D )

I played it again in rehearsal last night. I'll most likely keep the Duncans in there - thats the best thing that guitar has going for it. The Brobucker in the bridge is GREAT! It's everything I wanted out of a Custom 5 but didn't get right away.

Thanks for the compliment, btw. The fellow at the Duncan Booth said the same thing.

That guitar kind of fell into my lap when I wasn't looking for it, but yeah I'd like to get something similar quality wise.

If not another axe then I might put the $$ towards a Dirty Shirley amp. Than thing just slays. I've wanted one for at least 2 years now.

Both, haha.

On one hand it's nice to get the perspective of different pieces, but on the other hand it's a PITA when you do what I do and then come to the same conclusion that EVERYONE does (Tele, Les Paul, etc), but for a different reason.

My Music Man that I've got in '05 is one of those "bonding instruments". It's a little light and bright for me but man it just plays and resonates just like I want it to. I'll never let go of that one. I've had other EBMM's that were very close to it but didn't sound anywhere near as good or play as well.

Wanna buy my PRS? haha!!
