This Just In..Move over Warmoth!

Hahahaha

Warmoth - who needs them...

I used to purchase from Warmoth, then changed to USA Custom Guitars, and now have too many guitars and amps that I finally lose my GAS.

Re: This Just In..Move over Warmoth!

I think the point is that you have people buying complete guitars (or obtaining them in some other fashion... ie, Reliable Fender) and then parting them out on Ebay. Fender should have done this years ago, instead they struck a deal to have other manufacturers build licensed versions of their parts. I wonder if a "custom shop" (a la Carvin) won't be far behind where you can ask for a specific color, neck contour, etc... This was low-hanging fruit... they are already making these bodies and necks, now they just sell them as parts instead of putting them together. I would think wired pickguards will be next.

I think this would normalize prices too... why buy a "used" Mexican neck on Ebay for $200 when I can get a NEW one direct from Fender for $199? I would think some of the used prices should come down....

I wonder if Fender will still continue licensing to Mighty Mite. Considering the limited options I would think the Fender parts would compete more with MM than Warmoth.

Two of the same model strat w the same neck description on the price tag can feel totally different. My warmoth necks aren't identical twins, but close enough for me. I agree that a gear nerd like myself isn't the target audience. Just felt the need to piss and moan about the big brands.
