This must be GAS. (pics)

I've seen people talk about it.
I know what the letters stand for, but I don't think I've ever actually had it . . . 'til now. And, on the strangest thing.

I was perusing the Ibanez site when I noticed this wierd new guitar, the JetKing. It had at least six things that I immediately didn't like. The cheesy name, the cheapish tuner knobs, the fret markers, the bridge plate, the ham-radio knobs,
and the look-what-I-made-in-metal-shop pick-guard.

I stopped by the local guitar mega-store after work, and they had one on the wall. It attached itself to me like a lost puppy. I don't know what there is about it, but this thing is cool. Its a perfect fit, and it sounds great. I especially love the factory coil-split toggles.

I'm composing a local "trader" ad now to sell my bass boat for one of these. ;)

I dig those... for a while, ibanez had a bass on their site that was made of ash with duncan pickups, a bad ass II and a maple neck. It looked very conventional and I was gonna get one, but now all information on them is gone... but here's what I'm G.A.S.ing over:

Thats sharp too, Indie, but what does it say on the headstock?
It doesn't really look like Ibanez or Artcore. I can't quite make it out.

BTW - Ibanez still has a nice selection of basses. At least a couple I'ld like to snag.

:fest7: Welcome to the club. Now that you know what the symptoms are you will find the disease popping up all the time. I might as well tell you this...tell your wife to hide both check books and credit cards. If you show up looking like this :32: then tell her NOT to tell you where they are hidden.

She's way ahead of you. Apparently gear for me is a zero-sum proposition. Something has to go before something else comes in. Thus . . . the bass boat sale. ;)

hmm, glad you liek the guitar, cause i didnt. didnt feel right to me....

Re: This must be GAS. (pics)

yea, that guitar looks awesome. my favorite guitar store (funny, it love this store but i HATE the guy that always sells me stuff) has this trade policy where you can go trade in your guitar with another guitar of higher value and they will give you the price you paid for it. as soon as i saw this guitar come out, TRADE TIME! i paid 215 for my destroyer and this guitar was 300. 85 bucks, cool trade. however then i found out that the trade policy was a total CROCK. the price you paid for it is deducted form the RETAIL price of the new guitar, wich is like 350-450 bucks i believe in that one? idk. so i didn't, but now i'm glad i didn't get that guitar. i think it looks cool, but for some reason i just couldn't see myself playing that guitar. plus it needs a lot of $$$ put into it.

it's been out since last january.

I guess I should spend a bit more time with it in the store before making a final decision, but it did feel good to me. One of the things I noticed, in contrast to my Predator, when I hold my Predator, my picking hand falls naturally to the end of the neck, where it bolts to the body. So most of my playing is above the last few frets. On the JetKing, my hand falls right between the two pickups - right where it should. I'm not sure what accounts for that difference, perhaps the long "horn" on the Peavey, but the JetKing just fit me well.

dude those are cool looking ax'a but i played one those jetking's and sorry to they are crap the jetking sounds like its always outof tune the neck feels like crap and the pickups suck. dude check samick's Greg bennett's guitar's i have a 2001 interceptor model and i love it. go to www.samickgiutars.com i think for about same price or alittle bit more you could buy greg bennette they are sweet ax's i love mine

coolguitardude123: Yeah, I've looked at those. Some are nice, but they don't quite grab me the way some of the Ibanez do. Still, I'ld like to actually get my hands on one to see how it "feels".

mrid: Yeah, I've seen that too. Its funny how two models of the same guitar can be so different. I think that ones downright ugly. Also, if you look at it close, it almost appears as though they designed the pickguard pieces for the JTK1 and then changed the body at the last minute. Look how the shape of the pickguard seems to follow the JTK1 profile closer. Especially the top piece. It doesn't even look like it was designed for that guitar. ;)
