This thing is a BLAST!!!

Hodad Baritone came in yesterday and after some fresh strings and some tweaking to get the set up right I'm really having a good time with it!

30 inch scale, 24 frets and strung 14-68 tuned B to B...can you say TWANG?? How about RUMBLE???

This thing is a beast for sure!

I'll have to take more pics later on...the colour flip flips from the white to a sort of cream colour to a funky shade of purple when the light hits it just right...

So far I don't think I'm going to do anything to it aside from play it...the stack pot has a nice taper to is, is quite and feels solid the 6 position rotary pickup selector is solid and works well and the blow switch feels great...even the stock pickup have the sound!!!

Cool.

With that scale, you should also be able to string it up like a Bass VI.

Re: This thing is a BLAST!!!

Very cool look.

Thank you sir!

That is the shizz Daddy-O, rock it!

That's all I need...Wattage approved, good enough to rock!

I've been playing it pretty solid the past 2 days...learning songs I already know but in different positions just to get used to it. This thing opens up so many cool doors...I have a feeling it's gonna be a blast once I get it worked into the rig!

Re: This thing is a BLAST!!!

You didn't mention that it can LEVEL buildings with the "destroy" switch!

HA!

I really love that the BLOW switch works no matter what the 6 position is set to...makes it real nice for just getting a fat lead sounds and being able to go back to a more clear sound for chords!

Cool.

You can...it's pretty much the same set up as a Bass VI in that regard...14-68 strings and B to B or A to A is the "norm"...I've found a few guys that go a litte lighter (13-62) and tune it up to C but even with lighter strings they say it's a little tight for C to C on a 30 incher but if you use all wound 25-95 you can do Bass VI E to E ala Joe Perry/Peter Green!

I might try it one day but I really like the in between voicing of a Bari and the B to B seems to be working out well for me so far.

Re: This thing is a BLAST!!!

I'd love to play on something like that! Looks like loads of fun.

It really is...B to B is tight and clear enough that I can play open chords in the first position and still hear everything but it adds a unique voice to everything.

I've also been tuning it A-D-A-D-F#-A and playing slide on it which is bad ass but it's still taking some time getting used to the spacing being so much bigger...

Re: This thing is a BLAST!!!

Funny story...

I spent several hours the other night chasing a rattle..I though it was the truss rod, pulled the neck adjusted it and no better...thought it was internal wiring, opened it up, cleaned it all up and no better...thought it might be loose bridge screws, pulled it apart and tightened every screw on it and still no change then I sat down with it and it went away...

After some more looking I realized it was the control cover plate!!!

It's just a piece of flat metal screwed with 2 screws to the body and because it's hollow it makes the control cover rattle!!!

At least you can't hear it through the amp!
